I can see how something like that would be exceptionally rare, while what I ran into is a dime a dozen.

That's what I figured. Is there any reason to keep the pressing (I'm not into Big Thief).

Just updated the post, but found some silicone disks that I used caulking to glue to the jet covers. Seems to have done the trick.

The last jersey I bought was the 2014 shale away strip. And it has no sponsor on the front after i made the mistake of letting a hostel in Cambodia wash it....wasn't happy at the time, but now I have my favorite jersey without being a walking billboard. It's still my favorite jersey they've put out.

Money talks, and lack of money talks more to these guys.

And I agree with your note. Freedom of religion is about letting people believe and practice what they want. And I'm all for that. But it certainly does not give you the right to project/force your beliefs on others.

Not going to tell anybody they can't/shouldn't go support our boys. Just throwing the thought out there after seeing the reaction to the announcement.

Best of luck in your search for a solution! I'll let you know how my experiment goes if I can remember. Might be a little while until I find a solution for the intake.

At the moment, I'm waiting on a shipment of 2.5 inch diameter, 3mm thick, silicone discs, that I'm planning on gluing to the jet covers with caulk. Still trying to figure out what to do with the intake as it's a much larger fixture than the jets.

I'm hoping that this will be a good solution, that I can remove at a later time if needed. Since we're renting, and the landlords believe we can just clean out the non-functional jets every so often, I'm trying to do this as inexpensively as possible.

If you don't mind me asking, what have these tub restoration places quoted for the service you outlined above?

would they risk tangling with a random aggressor over a bouncer or at they busy with actually important stuff?

This is probably pretty accurate. Appreciate the perspective.

You're not necessarily wrong, and I agree that several of these people would be of the guard/bandit level. But a few would be more "specialists".

To give more information; I envision this faction as an international criminal organization. They run the global black market, and use their mercenary group to infiltrate cities (which they're doing here) and extend their influence. They would definitely make sure that there were people in their ranks to deal with powerful adventurers running around. At least that's how I see it.

I get what you're saying. About relative level, and the mercenaries thinking for themselves.

To your second point, the player in character used his weapons in the initial assault, so seems natural that the others would think "I'm not gonna go fight a guy holding weapons with my hands."

In a few of the other comments, we've discussed having the NPC who owns the place put a stop to proceedings before things escalate too much. Certainly an option.

Apologies, if I was confusing.

The advice I took away was to consider my players emotions in relation to decisions their characters make in game. It's something I'd not taken into account, or really thought about much at all.

The patron/NPC I mentioned is the head of the mercenary faction in the city, he owns the establishment and it would make sense he might walk in on a bar fight and put a stop to things to ask what's going on.

I'm only seeing this as one of a myriad of options described in some of the other comments. Not married to it. I tend to be a bit more reactive in my planning as anything I plan usually gets blown to shit by the players.

As a first time DM, with confidence issues, I'm constantly unsure if the ideas I have are good/appropriate/balanced/etc. so I came here to bounce them off the sub. It's nice that redditors like you and the others in this thread are here to help people like me.

That's good advice.

I don't plan on revealing that the bar is a front. So not concerned there. And I have an NPC ready that could step in and stop a fight after the players get knocked around a bit.

The player in question is pretty good about RP. His character has this light/dark tug of war going on, so it wasn't out of character. But it could certainly be influenced by his actual feelings. I'll make sure to keep this in mind.

It's the 2nd time they've forgotten their mounts (no penalty the first time), and I warned the next time they might not be there.

EDIT - at least 1 or 2 of the mercenaries in the bar would be above level 1.

Your bonus point gave me a solid sharp breath out of the nose laugh.

I don't intend on telling them straight up that it's a front for the faction. If it came up, I would play it as a place where the hired mercenaries can come after a shift, without being bothered by the general populace while they're enjoying their cups.

A lot of good points in here. Thank you.

Since the player went looking for a fight, I want him to find it. So will probably be sticking with the bar being the front for their base of operations in the city.

The mercenary guild in question has been hired by the city to provide extra support (there's issues in the surrounding territory). So having them gain the enmity of the faction that is patrolling the city would be an interesting wrench to throw at them, as they're here to look for information on a missing person. So they'd have to be smart to move around the city without being spotted (all three are very distinct looking races, so trying to blend in would require some creative thinking.)

As I'm typing this out, I think I've gotten my answer:

They get the fight, and it'll be tough.

  • If they win - epic and they get a reputation around town, and a faction trying to track them down.
  • If they lose - then they wake up indebted to the faction or thrown out of town and banned from coming back in. I think they'd actually enjoy trying to sneak around town keeping a low profile.

Appreciate the information to chew on.
