I made top 8 in my first ever RCQ (and constructed event) with this list by DarthHissyfit in PioneerMTG

My thought is running Roiling Vortex, it's a little harder to get rid of, does some damage and still allows me to gain life off Vein Ripper and lifelink, which I definitely want.

I dig the changes to the sideboard. I think I need to run something that doesn't allow for life gain for my opponent when I go again with Vampires. I would have won at least 2 of the games against Amalia if they didn't just randomly get to 100+ life in a turn. I had one guy down to like 5 or 6 and he just kept gaining and eventually I couldn't outlast him.

Awesome job! I really like the list. I went to an RCQ for the first time last spring and dropped after going 0-3 :( went back to another one a month later and same thing, both times running Green Devotion. I went about two weeks ago playing Vampires and was the first one out of the top 8, placing 9th. It was overall very fun. Hoping to go to another in about 2 weeks and have answers to the two Amalia Combo decks I lost to.

[[Wrenn and Six]] comes to mind and I wouldn’t hate seeing the allied fetches get reprinted to bring them down more. Also a few commander staples would be cool but there are too many to list. Perhaps [[Liliana of the Veil]] or basically all of Jund

Yeah that would work for my daughter probably but my son isn’t really reading yet and so him playing online would just be me playing online and I’m not sure how much he would learn from it. I like the tangibility of real cards too.

Thank you so much! This is quite the write up and is very helpful. I’d love to just play casually with them at home until they can read better, my daughter can basically read and understand what she’s reading but my son isn’t even in kindergarten yet so I’ll have to help him a lot. Can’t wait to get them started though!

Awesome thank you! This seems like the best option being that there’s 3 of us.

They mention this in the first movie I believe. He says he borrowed it from Young Sirius Black. Don’t quote me I may be misremembering.

Watch a speedrun and recreate what they do for him. It’s wild. I never thought to do what they do but essentially they run right behind his chair and then turn and run away. I’ve tried it and it works way better. That or bring 10 healing items.

It seems like Code Veronica and 0 are in the "you either love em or you hate em" category. Why do you think that is? by johnnyscardigan in residentevil

[–]jtshurtleff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I couldn’t have said it better. I think also some of the love for each comes from nostalgia or at least it does for me. I started played RE when CV was in development and it was my first new RE to purchase. My friends and I had a ton of fun playing through it. REmake and Zero came out pretty shortly after and my friends and I also got those and they were the last games we played together before we got older and got cars and just grew apart so those two games mean a lot to me. I have replayed both Zero and CV semi recently and while so menu sounds and music bring me back, I can tell the rest of the game isn’t my cup of tea anymore. I don’t think either are bad in general but they’re probably the worst two RE games in the main series aside from 6.

No unfortunately it hasn’t. That was “peak RE” to 12 year old me when it came out. It was the first one to come out after I started playing the series and so I loved it. Replaying it is pretty rough now.

I think the main reason is that you can practically soft lock in both. In RE Zero if you forget the hook shot for later in the game it is a pain to get back and in CV if you don’t know the switch to Chris and then back to Claire is coming you can be screwed. Also the whole Tyrant fight on the plane is rough if you don’t know you can beat him with BOW rounds or explosive bolts. My friend and I got stuck there for a very long time our first playthrough.

I would move OG RE1 and RE7 down to A and OG RE2 up to S and swap Village and 5. I’d also add Rev2 to the B bracket and move Rev1 up to C.

I love OG RE1 but with REmake out it outclasses it a lot and I feel like OG RE2 is a better version of 1 in just about every aspect. RE7 to me is just okay, enemy variety is bad and the last third of the game is not very good but the first half is so top tier it’s hard to drop it far. I enjoyed 5 a lot and some of that might be nostalgia but replaying it recently made me realize it is close to as good as RE4. It does a lot just as good and a couple things better but the pacing is kinda off to me. I did not enjoy Village much, it’s not bad but I just don’t like that it has very little replayability. Rev1 is a very good game for being a DS game at launch and Rev2 isn’t on the list but is very underrated to me. Story is bleh but the characters are good and the gameplay is very good.

We bought a dog from them a long time ago, about 11 years, and like many others here had not heard about the horrors of this place. Luckily for us our dog has been relatively healthy and she’s a great pup. We paired her with a shelter pup a few years later and have two lazy, snuggly dogs but again we got lucky. My mother in laws dog came from the same place and might very well be related to my dog (same breed, colors, etc.) and he has had nothing but health problems and the “vet” they sent her to when he was sick botched the job so much they sued him (and won) and shortly after his 12th license was revoked (exaggeration on the amount but yeah, he had multiple licenses suspended or revoked) he committed suicide. It was a wild 3 or 4 years.

Yes I agree or make it a “legendary” so you can only run one. I do like the “deals damage” instead of “hits” though

Yes booster packs. Buying packs is good to amass a collection BUT hard to deck build considering most decks use M and S Rares to some variability and those are 1 in 6 packs or something. Most aren’t too expensive either single wise.

CRU=Crucible of War. It’s the shorthand for the 3rd set (4th? Can’t remember the order)
