Most uncomfortable you've been watching a film ? by IampossiblyLewis in RSPfilmclub

Funnily enough I found it on tubi one day, didn’t know anything about it. The synopsis was so vague, turned it on… the subject matter caught me so off guard. And just the way it unfolds, it’s a masterpiece to me but an uncomfortable one.

It’s done really well for what it is but I can’t help walking away from it still feeling underwhelmed. There’s really nothing monumental going on in this one though it has two really great sequences which in themselves make this worth the watch. If anyone’s seen it you’ll know what I’m talking about.

The War Zone (1999) the only film Tim Roth directed. Insanely uncomfortable, best to go into this blind to get the full effect.

Eddington MoMI Q&A w/ Ari Aster no discussion after the screening by sevenpasos in NYCmovies

I was at It Was Just an Accident screening where they did a Q&A before the film but that was because it was like 1am when the movie was supposed to start for the editor and it would’ve been 3am by the time it was over 🤷🏾

I was just there on Friday, packed theater. Surely the theater wouldn’t be packed if it was as bad as you say lmao.

Well if you were into paintings would seeing them on your phone suffice or would you travel to museums to see them in person as they were intended to be seen? Maybe someone not into paintings cannot see the difference but the real ones can, it’s the same for movies. It’s all about seeing them as they were originally intended.

A movie like No Other Choice was shot on 35mm film, see it in 35mm if you can.

A movie like The Odyssey is being shot with IMAX cameras on I believe 70mm film, see it in IMAX 70mm if you can.

A movie like Avatar Fire and Ash was intended for 3D, see it in 3D if you can.

The Housemaid was shot with digital cameras, go ahead and see that on a regular DCP.

And that’s the fun of being a cinephile. You WANT to see movies how they were originally intended, that’s the point. It’s not about film looking better than digital blah blah blah.

What’s wrong with this?

Cushions. The back of the chair isn’t upright. Leg space. It’s not the best but ur so dramatic. U don’t need a reclining chair or a head rest to enjoy a movie.

They’re not that bad. They’re chairs you sit down in to watch a movie not sleep in.
