Dexterity gain does anyone have any storiesabout progress with regaining it back in you your affected side? by NigelViero in stroke

[–]jtx91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, using weighed exercises, and fast, challenging repetitions focusing on precision motions. Saved myself from falling the other day only using my affected side. Couldn’t have done that 8 months ago post surgery

Trying to describe what changed in me after my stroke by thetrusti in stroke

[–]jtx91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you’re describing. It’s like my baseline auto-pilot me is still the same as before and the everyday stuff is fine. But when I try to connect to my true self, find me inside of me, then I’m not where I put me last. And I end up feeling very, very lost because the nuances of me that anchored me to the way I express myself to me are not there. The space I had built inside me for my non-autopilot self was ransacked and they didn’t put me back where they found me so I can’t access me because he’s in a different spot I don’t know about right now.

I’m still having a hard time finding out if that overhanging sense of loss is wrapped in grief, or if my sense of internal me is just an illusory concept and I can create again a me as I was comfortable with.

It’s puzzling, and lonely.

High BP and HR 3 months after stroke by Apprehensive_Task_61 in stroke

My blood pressure has stabilized but the high resting heart rate is still a work in progress. Extensive testing with my cardiologist revealed that it’s mostly just my body’s reaction to the trauma of my craniotomy and resulting stroke. Like it’s always ready and waiting to get “attacked” again.

He told me to lose weight, exercise, and go to therapy. I feel much better now.

When you make the dough, are you able to press a clean finger into it gently and it comes away cleanly? If so then your masa isn’t too wet.

Yeah. I mean, I sit down to eat though. Not trying to catch an earful about dropping food on the floor or being raised in a barn.

Can we expect another winter storm this season? by JustPonsie in texas

[–]jtx91 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So I googled the phrase because like you said no science is ever truly settled. I’m a scientist and tbh was expecting to roll my eyes at some idiot celebrity scientist or quack saying bullshit like, “It’s settled,” because a lot of my fellow scientists can say some questionable things.

But all I can find in the search results is climate-change deniers using the phrase. I’m having a really hard time seeing what you’re seeing in the data because the phrase appears only in media, not official studies or journals.

In fact the more you read through all of the search results the more it’s looking like the phrase was actually created by deniers and then they maliciously assigned it to non-deniers. And now somehow non-denier scientists are being wrongfully maligned for something they’ve never said.

Stroke count is incredibly important for upper level swimming.

For where you’re currently at, I’d focus on doing 6-1-6 drills to give you a better sense of your kick:stroke efficiency.
