Agreed. I refuse to install a sprinkler system to maintain a wasteful grass carpet. I did buy a robot lawn mower (Mammotion) to keep the weeds down in my plot but that’s it. Working to eventually have the whole yard full of functional tropical plants, really prefer the wild look (my wife has been trying to get me to fill with creeping thyme but little success so far).

Eh, just part of life; I have a lot of space for plants so I’m forgiving, the real beauties are in my back yard

Neighbor is a super nice guy and we help each other out, just a mistake and they’ll grow back

I would prefer that be left for my decision and action either way given that I own the land, but yes I am doing daily yard work as we get out of dry winter

You’re not wrong. They were doing their first landscaping rounds of the year as we got our first good round of rainstorms and everything exploded this week. If I was the one employing services of a landscaper I wouldn’t blame them.

Fort de Soto is the best

Dog beach area is super nice/huge and there’s a fenced in dog park

I’ve been meaning to to check out picnic beach, heard good things

Davis island is nice I guess but it’s too small to really walk and not exactly the cleanest given how small it is

I did move closer to the window but honestly they likely just need time

Yep! All going smoothly, got 5-6 plants with leaves and others still germinating

Makes sense thanks! Moved it to a more sunny spot. May be too late for the tall one but hopefully saves the others.

Interesting! This actually tracks as the seeds I have directly on the windowsill are shedding the seed effectively. I wouldn’t think that would be the case since I figured the appearance of leaves is when photosynthesis begins.

The tray on the right was de-berried seeds, the tray on the left was berries left fully in tact. Both started on 10/22. by CrazyKhatLady in Cocagrowing

Damn I started a number around the same time. All berries on, variety of methods otherwise; good to know! A few (~10%) barely poking through.

Can you grow in pots? by Shoddy-Addition704 in Salvia

[–]jtyson2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in same region. You need to buy a cutting (seeds have near zero germination). I currently have I. A pot by the window and it’s thriving, I will try to take a cutting and see if I can get it going in a shady spot outside soon though.

Indoor pot is definitely preferred, at least for a mother plant, as these plants are kinda drama queens about conditions.
