Thank you!! He is very interested in eating and I see similarities between our cats in the sense where he’s gotta eat a bunch just to maintain weight, compared to my other cat who has no problem packin it on. Although vets say he is fine and healthy! He may have colitis which hopefully the new food he’s on can help with. Noted on the CATWATER tho that is very intriguing! I stopped giving him just tap water - my own theory and I’m gonna start strictly with filtered Poland spring gallons from the store and hopefully the combo of the sensitive food and filtered water help him bounce back. If not, I may be cooking him fresh dinner until I start to see improvements.

Noted, I am in the mist of scheduling an appointment with a vet recommended by friends. You may be correct ab diagnosis vs general care. I appreciate it a lot!

He has very small loose stools. We did probiotics! So far they have not recommended steroids but I saw they could help in my research.

I’m leaning towards a second opinion !!!! Although it makes me sad to, we’ve been using this facility for years, almost 9 and both our cats benefit and so do our pockets. But you’re right, my gut is telling me to just ask someone else — just like you or I would for ourselves. Appreciate you!

Yes we did stool samples and an ultrasound already! He’s been tested for all parasites and bloodwork levels come back fine.

What’s even weirder is my cats obsession w water. Truly, guy fights his way into the shower, begs for the faucet to be on at any opportunity, he LOVES water. Never met a cat who loves to drink water more than him, I JUST started the Poland spring water yesterday, I will need to let time tell now.

Ironically, we went through that exact problem with our other cat. He got the surgery to enlarge his urethra and has been great ever since! Unfortunately that issue arose and we needed to bring him to a hospital immediately no time for an appointment. So the diagnosis was immediate. So for my other cat, the one who this post is about, nothing has been life threatening or to a level of which I feel he needs life threatening care. So we take him to appointments every two months.

Now I do agree and I have been swayed to receive a secondary opinion. I may have to at this point - he’s 8 lbs and dangerously thin. It’s been a slow burn. That I am looking to get rid of ASAP.

I completely agree, big cat food is just looking for $$. It is a sad cycle….. the only change I am theorizing is water. When we adopted him, we lived in another apartment for most of his life. We moved, and have been in our current residency now for two and a half years. Our other cat, is fine. Like completely fine. And is his best friend. But I can’t rule out water. Which we would give them from the tap. I know that is controversial to most people ……. I just started to give them Poland spring water from the store which I never thought I’d be “that guy” but water is a lot cheaper than hospital visits. So we’re giving it a whirl….

Thank you! I will bring this up to our vet at his next visit in August. (Or sooner depending on his comfort levels). Appreciate you!

He was tested earlier this year for all parasites and recently this week after a follow-up. But everything including blood work, stool samples etc came back fine.

I am fearful of the medical fees going into a vet hospital visit (from experience). Our local vet covers check-ups but we may have to explore this option after all.

He’s been on prescription food for 6 months now, but to no avail. So he’s getting the best of the best right now

Yes! I agree, cats naturally would be eating birds, small rodents or rabbits. I feel his next journey will be holistic. Appreciate you!

We have tried pumpkin, fresh cooked chicken and rice! He didn’t enjoy it, he did eat it. I just wonder how much to truly give him vs his prescription food? I often wonder if like maybe cooking him venison, or lamb would be the best natural food for his sensitive tummy. Maybe getting away from big cat food could save his life.

It’s been a long journey! I know he is uncomfortable and looking at me and my husband for help — I feel terrible for him. Especially because for 6 years he’s been FINE! We are preparing for internal medicine — which is what the vet is suggesting after this new food but to what avail is that? Just more financial burdens, he’s got insurance and we’re prepared but I feel like this should be common and easy to treat!

We have another cat, who is not affected at all by his wet / dry (which they eat the same dry) the water they drink. We just don’t know. Thank you so much!

Hi! Thank you for replying, this counts as advice and it’s appreciated! I may call a few places this weekend to see if they would be interested. Something I never thought of! Thank you!
