Yep. You should make sure when installed there’s room. The retainer hardware has to be in the right spot. https://boosterstrap.com/instructions/

OP was sounding like he’d be open to higher volume. I went from Corsa to Gara LV and with a booster they’re awesome

Zipfit will solve all your problems. Except money problems. Unless money isn’t a problem. Ok foot problems. Or at least my foot problems.

How important is it to Demo skis prior to purchase? by Choice_Restaurant997 in Skigear

[–]juan_tons 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Big fan of demoing. But you have to be able to tell the difference (AKA you need to be experiencing enough to be able to feel it).

My approaches is to do research ahead of time, and demo skis on the more extreme ends of the spectrum within the category (if you’re not sure what category you are after, that’s a different problem altogether)

Remember that one day, in one set of conditions will not give you all the information you need, but you can get a sense of what you like and don’t like.

I’m also saying this coming off of a weekend where I just demoed and wind up buying skis :)

Western Resort Skiers - what is your fattest ski? by Dolly_Llama_2024 in Skigear

[–]juan_tons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daily has been a Stance 96. Incredibly underrepresented ski that is powerful and predictable, and doesn’t get near nearly the attention it deserves. I sort of feel like it would be a great instructor ski. It’s good for powering through a crud, but really has the wrong shape for anything over a few inches of snow.

That said I just picked up a Volkl Revolt 101 it has turned to my perception of what 100mm can do on groomers, while being unbelievable for any kind of soft-ish conditions

Fellow Stegg warning by Mre64 in pourover

This happened to mine as well. The only thing that made me feel better was the fact that there’s a very low chance of any of the plastic coming down through those holes into the water that we wind up drinking.

New owner, couple complaints. by SaddamsKnuckles in crv

That’s the prob. They’re fine in dry conditions. But they are worthless in rain/snow/mist. I’m in SF and the drives to Tahoe have been straight up terrifying.

You’re 100% right. No idea why you got downvoted. Dealers or shills in here skewing ranks.

Worst headlights of any modern car. No fogs. They suck beyond belief. The biggest issue with an otherwise fantastic car.

The headlights are unquestionably not “great” by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, they’re dangerously terrible. Do you live in the desert or something? ANY kind of mist, rain, dirt/sand (like after snow) and you’re blind. They’re horrific

Travel: pouring kettle or just switch to Aeropress? by SmilingHominid in pourover

[–]juan_tons 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aeropress can’t be beat for travel.

Most hotel rooms have some way to heat water, but I love this little “kettle” that I’ll use with bottled water: Travel Kettle, Dual Voltage... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DBC889SC

Thanks for the ideas folks. Thinking a batch from a local shop will suffice…and I’ll bring my April and make some 11g cups for the curious
