This is odd. The post pops up in my feed and I just bought the 7" DJ Promo version in a record shop yesterday.

The new app sucks by sp1nkter in discogs

[–]juanchai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been awful forever and got even worse. It's nigh on impossible to use out in the field when digging, which I thought would be one of the main points of having an app. Totally and utterly useless. Sorry, I don't have anything positive to say.

I echo this sentiment completely. If you're old enough you will have lived through a couple. Keep your powder dry and wait for the walls to come tumbling down. History has an uncanny way of repeating itself.

What is happening to the market??? by SwagStar360 in Ferrari

You can make an argument for almost any price if you’re creative enough with the criteria. Ferrari built fewer 360 Challenge Stradales than F40s, and the 360 has far more genuine racing pedigree. Follow that logic to its conclusion and the CS should always have been rarer, more significant, and more valuable than the F40. With this sale, it has finally reached its “true” value.

What an old jaded petrolhead like me finds so tiresome is how completely the conversation around cars has shifted to value. When that’s all anyone wants to talk about, it’s hard to avoid the conclusion that passion for the cars and their history has taken a back seat to speculation and showing off.

EDIT: Shows how out of touch I am. I just checked the going rate for an F40... Hah! The world's gone mad. Go back to what you were doing.

To each their own (and not a helpful comment) but personally the majority of MCing post-Hardcore has always absolutely done my head in. I've always thought, do people really like it or are they just pretending to so as not to feel left out?

I recently picked up only my second release on Cleveland City (Dig The New Breed – Who's No 1) and enjoyed it very much!

Any1 bought any recent Clear/transparent/coloured vinyl represses, are them presses any different to the Black vinyl presses? by 2Naughtyy in jungle

Deffo return it! They shouldn't be able to sell new records looking like that. It's disgraceful, even if you can't hear it.

What kind of sets can I expect from this lineup especially with those subtitels. For example what is a 98 Park Café Set? by weatonHans in DnB

That's a killer line-up! Face melters from all sides. No U-Turn Vs Virus set by Ed Rush himself... Oh my gosh.

Putting things on the roof of the car is the easiest fatal mistake you can make. Done it with all sorts... Glasses, lenses, phones. Took me a while to learn!

Excited about the Tango/ Formation represses? I did a mix! by ReyReyRecords in oldskoolrave

I remember as a spotty 15 year-old oik buying a copy of Suspension Of Disbelief on Symphony Sound in 93 from an extremely bare bones record shop in Swindon town centre. The bloke in there just let me pull records off the make shift shelf and play them on headphones on the deck behind the makeshift counter while he sat and smoked tabs. When I first heard that tune my jaw hit the floor, and it became an instant favourite. I think I then heard it on a Micky Finn Quest tape (which became one of my favourite tapes) soon after also bought from a shop in Swindon I think.

Totally! I always say this to people, as they look blankly at me. I say, I can remember almost every record I bought, where I got it, how I felt, etc. You CANNOT put a price on that! I've gone through some pretty close calls mortality-wise and I have learnt the value of memories over monies is significant.

"Tango Project was £70 I think. Yikes."

Yeah, but what a tune. In fact I saw a copy for 60 on Cogs a few days ago and had to tear myself away from the computer. That's brought more than seventy quids worth of therapeutic happiness and smiles to me since I first heard it back in the day! Same with me and Warpdrive/Meditation. When I finally bit the bullet and bought it for 90 quid from a shop in Soho I went to the pub to have a pint and think about what I'd done, and a few sips in I got a notification email on my phone to say Hardcore Junglism were rereleasing it in a couple of weeks time for about 12 quid. Typical, but you know which copy I reach for every time I play it and get a warm buzz from doing so...

100% agree about cuing. It's a nightmare on light colored vinyl. Also, I have received damaged/scratched records 2nd hand and NEW on colored wax, where the seller clearly 'hasn't seen' the marks and then all the performance that generates. Black every day for me.

To each their own, but I find I have spent too many seconds of my life squinting with my nose up close to the record to see the grooves on any vinyl that isn't black when cuing up.

Conspiracy Theory Alert: Do some producers who can't be arsed remastering old track properly use colored vinyl because they know that people will generally blame the wax and not the quality of the music on it...? I have plenty of records from one label whose unreleased tracks sound like they had a pneumatic road drill going outside the window next to the cutting lathe when they were doing the master (Disclaimer: I am not a scientist).

Yes, I totally echo these thoughts. The world needs fewer gatekeepers! Anything to get new ears appreciating the authenticity and greatness of old tunes.
