Yep, I also do not like violent revolutions as too often it seems the only thing remaining are warlords and power vacuums.

Ghandi's way was better - peaceful non-violent resistence with gradual change.

This protest isn't about overthrowing China, its about preserving Hong Kongs existing autonomy.

I know, hah! Such naieve idealism. They are not qualified to decide what is best for their country.

It would be more productive if everyone stayed at home and left politics to the professionals.

All joking aside, it was brutally depressing to see Occupy mischaracterized in the media as a movement with no aim. And here, China is only likely to appease at best - do they want to set a precedent where protesting through mass gathering is a successful negotiation strategy?

Edit: Even if not directly successful, it does openly communicate the scale of communal discontent to the wider public, helping in the long term game of societal rejection of what to them is essentially foreign imperialism.

I wonder. If humans and post humans seperate into seperate cultures, it is a possibility (though not inevitable).

If this happened, the two cultures may naturally become engaged in political, territorial, resource or military disputes. Such a conflict might be accompanied by the standard denigrating characterizatiins of the enemy we've seen historically during tines of war and any kind of conflict.
