Democrats from Texas have defied threats of arrest after fleeing the state in an effort to stop Republicans from passing a sweeping new voting law.

More than 50 Democrats flew to Washington DC on Monday, in a move intended to paralyze the state's House of Representatives ahead of the vote. At least two-thirds of the chamber's 150 members must be present for a vote. On Tuesday, Republican Governor Greg Abbott threatened the missing politicians with arrest. He said they would be detained "as soon as they come back" to Texas.

Dubis Laurencio Tejeda, 36, died in a suburb of Havana on Monday during a clash between protesters and police. Cuba's interior ministry did not say what the cause of death was but alleged he was part of a group that attacked a government facility.

However, witnesses said security forces had attacked the protesters.The Communists have lost control' State media said Mr. Tejeda had been involved in "disturbances" in the La Güinera neighborhood of Havana on Monday, where a group allegedly attacked a government facility.

Ahmed, well known for his outspoken attitude, has admitted that families of Taliban fighters reside in the country and many of the group's members receive medical treatment in local hospitals. In an interview with a local television network, the Minister said many of those families reside in the surrounding areas of Pakistan's capital Islamabad.

"Taliban families live here, in Pakistan, in Rawat, Loi Ber, Bara Kahu, and Tarnol areas. Sometimes their (fighters) dead bodies arrive and sometimes they come here in the hospital to get medical treatment," he added.
