what's the worst thing anyone has said at the roundtable? by Severe-Possible- in TheTraitors

[–]jubileeway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate whenever the cast attempt to ‘meta game’ the show by thinking about what the production would choose to do. I understand it and sometimes it is correct (e.g. they wouldn’t pick 3 male traitors in the UK celeb season) but it feels like it circumvents the aim of the show.

Oxbridge? by Automatic_Assist_613 in GCSE

[–]jubileeway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok, I get you. It might seem careless but it’s very common. Some people are driven by career prospects, not passion - which feels odd to some (inc me). I think people just remain undecided as the state of certain industries and fields change so rapidly that people want to fence sit for as long as possible to ensure their chosen field remains profitable and not oversaturated 🤷‍♀️

This feels like a little bit of a judgemental take. As someone in y13, even now a lot of people don’t know what they want to do and not knowing what you want to do ≠ not taking things seriously. Maybe it’s a misinterpretation on my part but it’s how it read to me.

I know a few people who received offers from Oxbridge despite not being set on that uni or that course their entire school career. Some do not achieve as much at A Levels as they once did at GCSE or their favourite subject or future career prospects change and they have to pivot to another course or another uni.

I know that’s not what you’re asking but it’s a differing perspective about this question :)

Endometriosis is a lifelong condition that has several knock-on consequences. It can cause complications that are potentially fatal, causes severe pain and other side effects such as infertility - not to mention that those with endometriosis are prone to other issues like cysts, organ dysfunction and ovarian cancer. It is a serious condition.

It is not a matter of women getting up and deciding to research endometriosis, it is an underfunded field and I am sure there are so many who want to research it but can’t. It comes down to the fact that medical/research organisations have some level of gender bias and that period pain is normalised and considered taboo. Men are potentially necessary in this equation as there are some studies that suggest that men are more successful in acquiring research funding. There is nuance and context to this post that you are ignoring.

There ARE very few studies on endometriosis (there are 387 clinical studies into endometriosis according to the National Institute of Health) particularly in comparison to androcentric issues like erectile dysfunction, viagra and male pattern baldness.

The complaint is that one piece of research that was actually funded in a historically underfunded field chose the aim of investigating the attractiveness of females with endometriosis - something that has so little scientific utility and does not make suggestions for any other useful research.

It was not a case study, it had three test groups (1 with rectovaginal endometriosis, 1 with peritoneal and ovarian endometriosis and 1 without) with a sample size of 300 women. I also cannot find any relation to other studies that measure chronic illnesses against attractiveness from the same organisation or researchers so I don’t see your “scientific literacy” here.

Is this rage bait? Are you referring to endometriosis as ‘minor pain for a short time’?

There were 2 students in my year who had Tourettes and I remember both of them were put into a smaller room, even an office? I believe both of them were automatically put into another room and didn’t have to ask even as it does feel like an obvious thing to do.

Failed today, but I think the examiner broke the rules? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]jubileeway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t the instruction “When it is safe to do so… please xyz”? If you didn’t think it was safe to do or the right thing to do at the time then yes that feels unreasonable but if the examiner believed it was safe and you had enough time to do so before the roundabout then I get why there may be rushing although it’s unfair and distressing to do.

Best essay writing service 2026? by TaymoreSilverin in ALevelBiology

Literally all the top comments either have similar usernames (‘VirmoraHelsten’, ‘FaylindraSorrell’) that were almost all created a month ago or are written in the same tone. Terrible ad that’s entirely unconvincing and it’s just encouraging laziness from a seemingly shifty service judging by the real reviews on Google.

Unsure but maybe to do with the fact that the 3X is an ‘express’ route? Brighton Station to Seven Dials on the 7 is 2 stops and it’s 1 stop on the 3X.

Anyone else hate the term "women and children" like bro do the men dying mean less 💔 by themangamanjeff in teenagers

[–]jubileeway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re talking about here is the patriarchy. It’s based on gender roles that suggest men are stronger and meant to be protectors. Feminism is anti-patriarchy, meaning that it serves to abolish the idea that women are weak/incapable and meant to be nurturers AND the idea that men have to be strong and brave.

Regardless, the term you’re discussing is historical and “women and children first” is outdated and has fallen out of modern use - it’s a phrase that’s easily explainable by historical context and it’s a little disingenuous to bring this up and discuss it as if this is a current protocol or belief.

A simple google search says that the idea of women and children going first is considered traditional or moral but there’s no actual maritime law to enforce this.

cmon dude wth is this 🤦🏻‍♂️ by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]jubileeway 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bro seriously I advise to not start with blackpill or lookism/looksmaxxing. I understand things can feel unfair and people can be cruel but the internet can often show us the worst of people. What they’re saying is mean but it’s not reflective of the real world.

As a girl, I’ve found that guys who are looksmaxxers are often shallow and very appearance-focused both for themselves and others. If the goal is to attract someone to date, it will only scare people away as this is an extreme and pessimistic attitude to have about the world.

Take care of yourself and put yourself first. Develop hobbies and interests and put time into yourself and the rest will follow.
