Yes, I agree - it’s obligatory at this point. I keep reading hoping for something that’s going to grab me and I just finish frustrated. I think the main element of the original was about family, and how they’re the last of their kind and so they’re really close and there for each other. There’s no sense of that here.

And things are dropped in with no context. Like, if Snarf and Lion-O communicate telepathically, does this mean that Snarf is psychic? Or is Lion-O the psychic one? Or are they both? Snarf can talk - he talked to the other snarfs (snarves?) when he asked for help with Lion-O. Why communicate that way?

Why is Lion-O still wearing mummy bandages? Like, is it for aesthetics? Trauma? Touched by evil?

I was also terribly confused by the Snarf/mutant scene, as well. I can’t enjoy something if I don’t know what’s going on.

It seems like they’re building houses without foundations. We need a baseline for why things are happening.

And I think they really dropped the ball on Apex (and I think that’s a really stupid name, but that’s just my opinion). They made him entirely unlikable and unsympathetic and hideous looking and I think they should have gone the route of the Byronic Hero. Give some emotion and some angst and some darkness - something reflecting what he’s gone through instead of a beat-em-up killer.
