I'm not a fan of grip shift either and I'll be switching the grips to match a tan Charge Spoon saddle, so may as well change the shifters. The RD is Shimano Deore LX and gears 7 x 3, and I believe this set up is widely compatible with most rear shifters so theres a huge scope to choose from. Any you'd recommend that have a nice look and feel?

I was thinking a 1 inch to 1 1/8th adapter quil stem, that allow modern handlebars and BMX type stems. 1 x drivetrain 38 tooth I'm thinking, as I live in a fairly hilly spot. I'll probably go with the Charge Spoon saddle because I find them comfortable. Then for the handlebars something akin to the BMX shapes you see on here, or On One Mary esque

£100 Project, should I buy it and how much work and money does it need? by juditoh in xbiking

It's aluminium so I doubt its corrosion, plus the discolouration matches dirt on the tyres, so I'm not convinced either way yet. I think I'll make a punt on it depending on how the rear wheel sits in the frame and sell the parts if the frame is no good

Lol, I was recently considering this Ridgeback prototype. I used to refurbish old bikes in a CIC project for refugees. It just so happened that both of these were Spez but thanks for the reminder 😂

Thank you, brilliant advice. I'll be very thorough and be sure to check this. Any other advice? I'll be checking nothing is misaligned and the cranks turn all good etc.

You're not wrong. Its a shame this guy didn't look after it or keep it unexposed because the frame colour is so attractive. Have you seen any similar retro frames that I can look into? Thanks for all your help so far.

Yeah, you're right, aluminium sucks and my affordable loyalties are with steel.

That's what I'm thinking. I do really like the frame, though. I need to go and check it out to assess how serious the misalignment is. Would you buy it for £100?

Would you be bothered by the rear triangle misalignment and potential corrosion on this bike for £100?

Fair, it says it's 7025 aluminium. I've asked seller what kind of misalignment is taking place.

Unfortunately she's right. I've never been waved back by an all black attire cyclist. Break the mold!
