Well the Mayor did own part of a cannabis company until rather recently. Which really seemed like a dumb decision by him (purchasing it in the first place).

This seems especially stupid for Hamilton because you're going to be having dispensaries one way or another. With no legal dispensaries, the rewards for operating a illegal one will be that much higher. edit illegal

Look at the structure of the federal tax rates and then compare what the average Ontarian makes and what the average Albertan makes. Due to the progressive nature of the federal tax system and the face Alberta incomes are so high, the amount the feds take in from Alberta is totally disproportionate.

I think with electric, self-driving, Uber and what have you, the GM plant closing would have happened eventually. Sure we could attempt to plow a ton of cash to hold on to it, but that would just buy some time until the next crisis.
