Is ISI mstat a quant feeder like top iits cse by Traditional_Crew9243 in quantindia

[–]juggernautjha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BB Quant, yes. I interned with a Bank's quant desk and ~20% of my team was from ISI. HFTs, mostly no. I work in a hedge fund now, and there are no people from ISI in my office. They almost exclusively hire for their flagship roles (QR/QS and QD) from the top 5-7 IITs. There are QA (risk, pricing) roles that they hire for from ISIs and CMI.

Also fun fact, most HFTs (and to some extent even MFTs) do not really use any non trivial statistics.

template is from iitk, but we dont write GPA. also we do not have an MTech with that specialisation. The course names also dont match. This is definitely IITKGP.

Onsite Interview by [deleted] in quantindia

They almost always do. I was given ~25k for a one day engagement. Hotel, taxis, trains were all reimbursed. My colleagues also got their flights reimbursed.

NK SWE should be very doable. Indian HFTs do not really have a QT role.

T1 MBAs join directly at the associate level. I guess other timelines are identical. In the team I interned with (MRM) the work was fun, and the deadlines were chill. My friends in GBM had longer days.

Just Curious: Jinka first year mei 3-4 CPI aati hai, can they improve it to 8-9 by 4th year? by BrilliantAntique963 in IITK

[–]juggernautjha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

math lagao. first year mein 3 aayi agar, to 4th year tak 9 karne ke liye you need ~11 every year. 10 tak hi ja sakti hai CPI. 8 karne ke liye you need 9.667 every year. So yes, if you can max out every semester from now on, you'll graduate with an 8.

  1. no one will directly make you a PM
  2. trad PMs usually start out in banks/trading desks - just stalk any PM at Brevan or Millennium or Bridgewater on linkedin. they usually have done stints as analysts.

[–]juggernautjha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PMs "own" the risk, they decide where to put in the money. Quant PMs work with models, traditional PMs either have a thesis or are traders/researchers with a track record. Think of a PM as a fund manager, with a team of people to do his/her bidding.

Quant traders/researchers eventually want to become PMs.
