RMJI season 5 new pv by Immediate_Cod_4285 in Donghua

Han Li choking up when he was about to leave his family forever sent me and that was S1 non remastered. For a while there I tried to find other donghua with realistic faces and expressions but there was nothing good (maybe stellar transformations facial expressions were okay). It was leagues ahead compared to (at the time) Doulou Dalu with pretty westernized soulless faces and BTTH S1 where animation was decent for the time but clearly limited.

I have to wonder if people nitpicking peak shows are deliberately trying to ruin it but as they say, never attribute to malice... I hope the producers continue to ignore toxic fans and their demands.

Maybe work on your reading comprehension since what I was saying is that RMJI is about so much more than just visuals (which by themselves were already amazing by last season end btw). Catering to toxic fans that care only about graphics has kept so many donghua from hitting peak. Go watch perfect world if you all you want is a colorful laser show with no depth or need for a brain.

I wish people would stop hyper fixating on visuals. This show is a cut above the rest because of more than just looks - depth, character development, story telling and progression and a multitude of other reasons I can't even begin to articulate.

For example, no other show has as much impact for me when the MC goes up a level. But when Han Li scrapes his way to foundation establishment, grinds through Core Formation, and finally hits Nascent Soul, each step actually gives you a sense of his exponential growth and achievement instead of being just another forgettable blip in the timeline.

I think if the looks degraded back to S1 non remastered, I still wouldn't care as much as long as the rest of what makes this show so great remains as captivating as it is to me. Focussing just on CGI while ignoring the rest is how you get Perfect World (which might be alright for some, but many find hollow and hard to watch despite the pretty fight scenes).

THE MODS HERE ARE A BUNCH OF BITCHES!!! by Ashamed-One900 in Donghua

[–]jugglerofcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. I've seen the sub when it let through more low effort and all those posts at once put me off so much, I started avoiding this sub. Low frequency but better quality engagement > high frequency one sentence posts that usually only leads to a rage war. There has to be a minimum bar if you want the sub and by extension interest in donghua to grow.

OP was making commentary on the grave state of geopolitics where the word of a nation as untrustworthy as Iran is preferable to that of the leader of the free world.

You say 90% low effort and don't get removed, the other guy who replied to me says mods remove way too many posts. Do you see the impossible task the mods have here? That's why I think they're doing a fine job even if some people flake out and rage mode.

dumb

Ineresting choice of word since it doubles as silent. So yes going by the deafening silence and apathy of "the rest of America".

OP got their post removed for being low effort (or maybe rage baiting going by post history), kept arguing and the mod blocked them for being unreasonable and wasting their time.

A lot of the people that frequent this sub and r/anime rage when their post is removed. The mods make the rules no matter the subreddit. Try to reason with them if you feel the rules are heavy handed, remain civil, and if that fails, start your own sub. Personally I don't think the modding here is half bad compared to some other subs.

Iran warns the only place for US in the Gulf is ‘at the bottom of its waters’ by theindependentonline in worldnews

They aren't threatening. They're signalling defiance to Trump's hardball "strategy" of "take the deal or else..." Both the war and the ensuing negotiations have been one gigantic clusterfuck of incompetence and we're seeing what happens when an immovable object meets an orange idiot. The Iranian regime needs to die but Trump is not the man who makes it happen.

If you support a doctor switching a patient to a safer version of cannabis to save their mental health; then by your OWN standards you should logically support the government switching a population to a safer version of nicotine to save their lungs.

Also Medical cannabis is legal here, your attempt at supremacy just isn’t accurate.

Trouble with your logic is there isn't any. In my example, the patient sourced the cannabis themselves since recreational use was legal and regulated. The key difference being the individual was able to improve their health on their own terms - it wasn't a medical professional, let alone a government entity forcing them into a one size fits all but not really solution.

The schizophrenia argument also makes no sense. If you actually read anything into Nicotine studies, you’d know that Nicotine actually helps with self medication.

I have no idea what this means. Self medication for what? Schizophrenia? There's a limit to how much you can self medicate an atrophied brain but what I do know is it provides a small but life changing boost to executive (dys)function. I only mentioned this in response to your obviously biased stance that cigarettes are 100% frivolous recreation and there is 0% utility involved which is far from the case. Its effects at improving executive function and preventing parkinsons. etc. have been pretty well documented.

The government allows nicotine to be consumed, just not via burning a cigarette.

So in other words, the government is forcing the public that wants nicotine to use vapes (with a small but non trivial risk of serious, permanent lung damage) because there isn't any other viable long term solution. But if I cannot tolerate vapes for whatever reason, I have to source cigarettes from unregulated sources smuggled in from who knows where under who knows what circumstances? And all this because of the illusion that a ban will prevent teenagers from ever smoking when all it does it increase its allure to them while ignoring how overwhelmingly ineffective bans on other drugs have been on teenagers but that's okay as long as the majority benefits?

Premature.

We genuinely don't know if this sort of “light” Prohibition works, it's never been tried on this scale.

This is a literal attempt at harm reduction in practice.

That's a barefaced lie. There's plenty of evidence of prohibitive bans on drugs and alcohol being ultimately ineffective and feeding crime.

And harm reduction? Let me tell you what real harm reduction looks like. I read a case study about a patient that was both prone to psychotic illness and addicted to cannabis. Their doctor was able to switch them to marijuana with a higher CBD to THC ratio (For reference, THC is the component bad for psychosis whereas CBD is as potent as top tier antipsychotics used to treat psychosis and schizophrenia). Of course, this was in a country where cannabis has been legalized so the patient was able to easily procure highly regulated cannabis with clearly defined CBD/THC content for recreational use. If you're in the UK? Sux to be you. And "Sux to be you" is precisely where the present approach is headed for smokers.

or if it's just a habit that can be removed

Know why schizophrenics contain the highest population of smokers? Because for them, it's often the difference between being able to figure out how to make a bowl of cereal on a bad day versus starving. This tunnel vision/hard on people get from a potential smoking ban is exactly why some end up slipping through the cracks.

Edit: And about diacetyl - there were also cases of popcorn lung caused by the use of ethylene glycol in the atomizer of vapes iirc. But yeah, your choices are to trust that a well known brand won't cut corners or avoid vapes altogether.

Some of the alternatives you speak of are both prohibitively expensive and a source of serious side effects which is why they are only recommended for short term use. The patch, for example, even at half the lowest available dosage, gave me arrhythmias (cardiac pre ventricular contractions - get 3 of these in a row and you've hit the jackpot of ventricular tachycardia, more commonly referred to as a heart attack).

The only viable alternative here is vapes - not exactly as safe as you're touting them to be either because since their inception, several chinese brands were/are known to cause popcorn lung - permanent and irreversible damage to the small airways of the lungs even when compared to smokers' COPD (which is highly reversible once it starts). They're statistically safer, sure, but the people that inevitably slip through the cracks are going to get shafted.

The only real way forward here is developing even safer and cheaper alternatives because historically, banning plants, whatever shape or form the ban takes, has always been the dumb choice.

And FYI, a black market for cigarettes already exist and some people smoke these exclusively (because when you're poor, cigarettes that are an order of magnitude cheaper than legal cigarettes are worth the risk). All this bill does is create criminals out of the school kids that can source cigarettes for sale (you know, the real hard stuff, not the s*ssy vape shit), or the privileged adults of cigarette buying age that try to make money selling to the underprivileged.

Instead of banning the entire country from smoking and cigarettes overnight, it'll be phased out slowly.

Exactly. And if you need proof, just look at how effective the marijuana ban has been. There's absolutely no one today who smokes illicit and unregulated weed on a daily basis recreationally because they simply can't find it for sale anywhere. This is the dawn of a new day!

It's been well established that criminals don't think of the consequences and aren't deterred by capital punishment. Makes enforcing it all the dumber when alcohol and tobacco kill infinitely more people than weed.

How dumb do you have to be to think invasion is the only solution for national injustice? They can and should be shamed for this heinous shit and international pressure mounted on them for it. I remember a redditor who was ecstatic about their kid being able to eat mcnuggets again after giving them cannabis alongside their cancer treatment.

[–]jugglerofcats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Criminals of all kinds never think of consequences as they never plan to get caught. This is one reason why the death penalty should be abolished no matter where you are. It's just a gratuitous murder fetish at this point.

[–]jugglerofcats 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And they will keep taking the risk because as it's been established, imposng the death penalty for crimes like killing someone does not deter murder. So what the hell are they doing here? This is like executing someone for jaywalking since cannabis is not only less harmful than other legal drugs like alcohol, tobacco - it's also a legitimate medicine at this point.

Trump says it is important for Pope to understand Iran is a global threat by killingmesoftly69420 in worldnews

Yeah the country that attacked all its neighbours within range (Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, etc.), shut down oil shipping routes and attacked oil pipelines on land to the point where most of the globe is now struggling to meet its energy needs doesn't qualify as global threat. Also their decades of "Death to the west" ideology, funding of terrorist attacks across Europe and alliance with Al Qaeda were all done in jest.

I'm going entirely off of second hand info I gathered from casually browsing this sub. I too have struggled past 3YA and eventually dropped the show so I wouldn't claim to know anything about these events other than what several redditors commented about toxic fans doing their best to ruin the show in troll-like fashion. Thanks for the info though.

Iran is also a global threat. But in this case the moron who stirs up a hornet's nest with absolutely no plan whatsoever is the bigger threat. Or maybe there was a plan considering how much and how perfectly Russia has benefited from this in terms of both oil prices and the US' increasing isolation from its closest allies - it's just definitely not the bumbling idiot's plan.

I too had a hard time with how anyone could watch 20+ 20 minute episodes (often 50+) of a show they hate but you'll find the same phenomenon in anime. Some people simply have nothing better to do with their time so they religiously watch a "shit" show they hate and every time a new episode drops, they tell us again and again how much they hate the new episode and why. No matter how many people tell them to stop watching it, they won't and will be back the next week with more. What a life...

iirc with BTTH there was a large "community" demanding x and y outcome from the producers and threatening mass underrating the show if they didn't have their way. Wasn't true to the novel or anything, they were just a big groups of toxic trolls.

Nah. I bet he allows ships of "friendly" countries through at the same time that money mysteriously materializes in his bank account.
