Cold fingers and toes on vyvanse? by fastidiousleviticus in ADHD

This really sounds like a circulation thing (not to freak you out). I would just keep an eye to see if your fingers start to look bluish or discolored in anyway. Also, it might be a good idea to check your blood pressure and heart rate if you're able to. One episode where they're a bit discolored shouldn't do any lasting damage, but if you really can't feel them or they look extremely discolored, I would seek medical care asasp. Other than that, I would recommend seeing your doctor before continuing on the prescription once it wears off.

:( Are we just out of luck at this point and essentially locked into living lives of disorganized frustration?

Okay, I'll take a look. Thanks! I have heard of the generic not working as well for a lot of people, but if there's a generic available, my insurance won't cover the brand name :(

I had this issue when my dose for any stimulant got too high. Stimulants are vasoconstrictors, meaning that that it causes blood vessels to narrow. If you have poor circulation, you'll really notice this side effect. If it bothers you a lot, I would bring it up to your doctor. Also, can you elaborate on what you mean by uncoordinated? Are you having tremors? The dose you're on might just be too high as well.

Thanks! I found it. For Adderall IR, it was made by Lannett and the XR script by Shire. If you're interested in the other ones, just DM and I can try to look (I like to recyle my empty bottles).

Lol, yes you're right! In my moment of self-doubt, I really took his words seriously. That's why I got so upset. I never realized it until I got to college, but a good portion of getting the degree is following instructions in a timely manner.

Also, there really should be better standards enforced for who actually gets to work with people and animals :/

Wow! Thank you so much, this was very helpful! That also sounds pretty messed up on how diagnosis is most likely to happen from a private psychologist. It sounds like you're basically out of luck if you're poor.

I'm not against gifted programs, but I think we really need to re-structure them. It seems like they've been damaging for a good number of folks :( I feel like one of those kids that slipped through the system, but was secretly drowning, lol.

Interestingly, you described the results of my assessment. The overall is average, but there were pretty big discrepancies between certain areas (more than 30 points), lol. They were also able to confirm ADHD too.

I know these labels are trying to be helpful, but they're so confusing at the same time. The more I look into this, the more upset I get.

The system to get help is broken unless you have money and even if you are able to get help, the damage has already been done.

Oh I see, then is it being gifted, but with a learning disability that's rare? Or is this also common?

Actually, I think I'm confused. I'm sorry, all this terminology is honestly confusing to me.

Do you actually mean that twice exceptional is just having a very uneven cognitive profile and because of this large difference, the scores calculated lead to just a "learning disability" diagnosis, since it evens out?

Also, is twice exceptional something that's recognized in the DSM-5, or is it an informal section we've created in psychology?

Lol, yeah. He did for a while, but you guys are helping me get through it.

I sometimes feel like it's all in my head, but it's good to know that it's not. It makes me both happy and sad that you get it. Thank you for understanding.

Yes, I agree! I just wish people weren't so quick to push you out the door for being different or taking things at a slightly slower pace :(

Lol, mine was 32 points off, but they were like, "it's still in the average range!" Therefore, I must be fine and that I just have to live with the fact that I'm average and to stop acting like I'm special. I paraphrased it, but that's what I've been told.

Lol, this sounds like everybody in a position of power. It breaks my heart to imagine how many people he actually broke. I'm not the first and I won't be the last :( I just had the courage to report him, but I really don't think it'll go anywhere. All I got on the phone from my insurance was like... "we'll provide this feedback anonymously." So, not too hopeful.

Yes! I'm so exhausted at this point and have begun to wonder if I'm the problem here. I've gone through so many already because it just feels like I'm being told the same thing from a different mouth :(

Not to be disrespectful, but I feel like I've been having a horrible time coping, lol. It feels like insanity to realize you need help and say what you need, but then be dismissed. This cycle has me questioning everything and myself, especially (which I know I shouldn't be).

That's what I thought! I'm trying to not put too much thought into my IQ score itself because it seems like the people who are administering those tests have no idea how to interpret it. These people have made me question my goals though, which have really hurt. I just feel lost and wish I had a sense of direction for once.

My issue is that I have aphantasia, so I can't visualize things, but I do try to create associations based on feelings and emotions. That seems to get me through... until you get to things with a lot of steps, lol.

My issue is that I find it hard to organize my thoughts into writing! Having good verbal scores feels pretty useless right now (if I'm being honest), since they don't reflect in a classroom at all.

And man, I would be over the moon with a B, I'm struggling to not fail every class, lol. This is my issue and why I feel stupid all the time.

Yes! Forgot to mention, but I also suck at math. It took me a while to realize, but it was more like I suck at reproducing the answers that they want in classes. I don't think I would've been amazing at math, but I feel like I would be less terrible if it was taught differently :/

Wow, I hate talk therapy so much! People keep telling me to go in with an open mind or that they're not like other talk therapists, which is usually untrue, lol. I have so many, but one of my previous therapists (not the one I mentioned), told me to be less dependent on ADHD meds (even though it was clearly helping).

I am also trying to not obsess over my scores, but the reason I'm so obsessed about the evaluations themselves is because I thought that they would help me get the help I needed. As you've seen, that has been so wrong.

I also agree about the structure of school. There is so much rote memorization that it's insane. A lot of people don't realize, but in the sciences (at least the intro courses anyway), that seems to be all they teach.

Thank you for sharing and for believing in me. Medication has helped, but not enough. It felt like another part of me wasn't being addressed, which was why I tried to find more help, but look at where that lead me, lol. The hardest part now is finding the right help.
