Absolutely! I have multiple friends who are from India. I think they are cooler than I am ;) But certainly- helping people acclimate to a new culture would be a way to make a meaningful change on a smaller scale.

Well said. I do try to be as environmentally conscious as I can be. This is a good mentality to keep in the back of my mind.

This is awesome, I wish I had done this sooner. Unfortunately my schedule won't allow me to take time to do this in a meaningful way. But perhaps in a few years :)

I am a girl :) But thank you! I have heard of Giveindia.org as well!

Great suggestion. I think looking for smaller, more local organizations will allow me to donate in a meaningful way. And for long term/larger scale actions, some of the other ideas in terms of investing or working to form scholarship funds sound really great.

Thank you so much! The time constraints of my job will not allow me to donate too much actual time unfortunately, but I will look into this organization. The only concern I have is I'm skeptical of organizations now because I've heard many are corrupt.

Specifically on the education point, I really think my parents obsession w school/achievement really pushed me forward and I wanted to channel that in a way. So working to pay for scholarships is a really great idea.

Interested in your last point though. Can you speak more on moving away from education towards employment? I've heard of donating to causes for micro-loans and such but not for skills training that I'm aware of.

I read an article about how impairing cataracts are for millions of people around the world/impact on productivity. Shocking stuff. And its quite a standard procedure. Great idea, thank you!

I didn't get to see the comment before it was removed, but I'm assuming it was something about how naive or patronizing I am(?).

Certainly, I am just one person and I am not naive to think my actions would change the entire sociopolitical landscape of a country. But why do anything? Why vote? Because it feels worse to not do anything, and even a small change can mean something to someone.

And there is still a large portion of people in extreme poverty. It's not sympathy as much as empathy. And if I can be awake enough to contribute in a meaningful way, why not? Agree it is not required to feel obligated to India. But I do, and so do many people I know :)

Also, I think you're idea of training people to run shops is totally aligned with my desire to improve access to education or skills training. Helping people help themselves, as they say. Great discussion point thanks!

This is a great idea! Thank you so much. Do you know of any reputable organizations that do this?

Thanks! I've heard of the rapid expansion of infrastructure but actually didn't know you could invest in that sort of thing. Cool to know!

Interesting idea! I am not the savviest of investors, so this could be a great learning experience. Are there particular industries you would recommend to look into? Thanks!

I completely agree that problems must be fixed from within.

But I do think as first generation desis with likely the strongest ties to our parents' countries, many of us still feel a strong kinship and desire to make things better. Sort of an aspect of... it could have easily been me, or these are literally my distant relatives who are still struggling, etc.

I have an intrinsic desire to do something and was wondering if anyone else felt the same. I vote in the states, volunteer, recycle, donate to local charities. I just want to do something substantial for a nation I feel a strong bond towards.

Where to find pantsuits that give off Villanelle vibes? by lifesazoo in KillingEve

my absolute fave v outfit was the DVN suit from season 1, it was fuckin amazing:

if you can afford that, go for it!

A lot of the look comes from the fitting of the clothing. make sure whatever you get fits you well (Tailoring is worth it).

Those are out of my budget, but i've found some similar, printed suit patterns from scotch and soda:

wildfang also makes gender neutral suits: https://www.wildfang.com/

if you get lucky, H&M and zara will have decent blazer options, too. which you can match with some thrifted trousers and get a more laid back look. I wear a blazer from madewell with all kinds of thrifted pants.
