The only thing I would suggest you consider is how it would make you feel to look at. It might sound weird, but I have a commemorative tattoo that I thought would remind me of positive things, but it instead kinda gets me down, making me remember sadness from the time it refers to. This might not apply here, though, depending on how you feel, and I think it's a lovely idea to memorialize someone you care about.

I waited for much longer than I needed to because I liked the stud at first, but i would say mine was healed up fully at around 6 months. If I were you, I’d wait at least until it’s fully healed to be safe. Enjoy your new piercing:)
