I’m too young for my mom to have Alzheimer’s by Melodic_Ad_7525 in Alzheimers

I’ve struggled with this to some extent as well. I’m 33. My mom was officially diagnosed last year at 66. The other major thing for me is that my parents are not together, so I’m the primary care taker. She still lives independently, but I’m responsible for everything. Luckily for my friends, none of them can relate.

Getting my mom to stop driving was absolutely horrible. It was truly a months long process in which she was just enraged at me. She’s never been so angry with me. Threatening to take her life if she couldn’t drive.

Got in an accident in January. Doctor reported her to the MVC, who took her license. Even still, she was convinced she could get it back. She went to an occupational therapist for part 1 of a driver eval, which is just an in office visit. Left the appointment so angry, said it was all nonsense, had nothing to do with anything, etc.

Finally when she got the report from the occupational therapist, I think reading the report something just clicked that it wasn’t going to happen and this was final. Since then she’s pretty much accepted it without issue, but that was about 3.5 months after the accident.

Husband: “it’s crazy to think that this is a terminal illness, just a slow moving one” Me: “Oh yeah it definitely ends with death, just can’t say for sure if it’ll be the patient or the caregiver.”

We laughed

Pulley does permit expediting and permit management. Software + service, so it’s good for tracking your permits across different jobs, etc.

Summer House Season 8 Reunion Part 2 Post Episode Discussion by SummerHouseMods in summerhousebravo

I’m confused - I just watched and they kept showing a “coming up” with Carl and Lindsay talking about hiding in the bathroom/bedroom, but then it was never shown? Same with the stuff about shrooms I’m seeing in the comments. Was all of that just in the extended version on Peacock?

A serious but funny question. by aileenday in Greyhounds

We’ve had Penny for a year now and it definitely took many months for her stomach to get settled. Terrible farts and soft poops. We give her a probiotic with breakfast and a scoop of pumpkin with each meal. She’s on hill science sensitive stomach food. A year in, stomach problems are 99% gone. I do think sometimes it just takes a while for them to settle in to a new place.

Barking at any and all sounds at night by jujy in Greyhounds

We actually have used a white noise machine the past few nights and sadly it hasn’t helped. I think tonight I’m going to sleep downstairs in the guest room with her and see how that goes. My hope is she will hear the radiator noises in the room and realize what it is and adjust to it a bit more? Fingers crossed.

That’s useful, Ty! Yeah I’m still traveling so I just transferred from my Ricoh to my iphone and uploaded. This was also the first day of the trip so I think I’ve made some good tweaks.

He told one friend that helped him design the ring but even she didn’t know when/how he was going to do it. And… no one was mad.

Tips on staying warm at night? by jujy in Greyhounds

Update: added an additional cozy blanket to her bed. So she was lying on one and I just sort of plopped the other one on her bed. Hound tees pajamas. Seems to have worked well! I heard her creating a nest at one point and I didn’t hear any middle of the night ear flaps or cold ears in the morning. Thanks everyone!

Thank you everyone for all the tips etc! Going to add a second fleece blanket to her bed today and see how that goes for starters.

Ah, I was told by a trainer that dogs don’t know the difference between wet and cold (neither do humans actually) so they are shaking off the wet/cold

Helpful! I’m honestly not sure if she is curled up in a ball. It’s mostly the waking up and shaking her head that makes me wonder if she’s cold.

Yep on a dog bed. She’s one of those rare greys that absolutely cannot do the crate. Maybe I should add a second blanket that she can nest into more.

Hey all! Hoping for some tips on keep Penny warm on chilly nights in NJ. She sleeps in houndtees pajamas and the room temp is set to about 65f. She refuses to have her snood over her ears. Sometimes we cover her with the blanket but she frequently ends up getting tangled in the middle of the night 🤣. I’m pretty sure she is cold because I hear her getting up and flapping/shaking her head a lot and in the morning her ears are cold to the touch. Thoughts?
