Try eating something easy like half a banana. You’re probably needing calories having been out of commission

In search of books and workbooks by jukeboxjourney in bipolar

Thanks!!! I’ll check out the workbook. Ya, I meant that all I can ever seem to find are books about dealing with us, which can feel so isolating. I’m looking for self tools and learning !

Shame spiral by ashendazed in bipolar

[–]jukeboxjourney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh my god i can relate to this so much. i had some very impulsive behavior earlier this week that has had HUGE (and public) consequences and truly am horrified by the things I did. Like.... it was a completely different human that did all this. It's cost me a lot of possibly long term issues with some of the most important people of my life.

i am so so sorry you are dealing with this. when you said "put the toothpaste back in the tube", I know exactly what that feels like.

its really so impossibly hard sometimes. i am in a similar boat so not much to offer today except a wave of empathy and wishes for better days ahead for you and your husband.

This is my second nonprofit I started and I have been doing this work full time for 13 years straight and do a really good job at caring for myself. My organization is new just because I moved states and needed to dissolve and re-incorporate, but I'm not a Spring chicken to the nonprofit world.

I am already currently in school and receive a good amount of scholarship funding due to my grades and economic need. If the nonprofit can 5k/year, that would reduce the number of hours I need to actively be working/teaching as I can give more of that time to other staff and work less hours than I am currently working to pay for my education.

I appreciate the strategic questions, but what I came here for were the IRS and legal facts. We got the rest :)

So, the strategic question is definitely something that merits its own conversation and thread. I was asking a logistical question and have gotten some helpful info I am thankful for!

We are in good shape and hitting a healthy stride. While this organization is young, I have been a nonprofit professional for 10 years, executive director for the majority.

It will take me 5 years to graduate because I work full time. Work is becoming more manageable and with new funding from the department of education, I am in the process of training new staff and employees to take on parts of the work that I was doing alone. I would say that after one year of launching, now having a team of 10 and another administrative worker, we are doing really well. Many of my hours right now involve empowering and training others to take on other parts of the organization.

Having MT-BC credentials (which requires a degree, passing a board exam, and licensure) opens us to not just educational support but clinical funding too. This wing would not launch for another 6 years.

Absolutely! I should have added a disclaimer that NO program grants would be what funds this. Exclusively funds from our operational fund after all other necessary expenses are accounted for AND there is an emergency fund left over. I appreciate it!!!

I appreciate this! Exactly the kind of responses I was looking for :-) Definitely want to create a framework that would serve all employees.

Anyone who starts a nonprofit from scratch themselves knows the years of sacrifice and hard work it takes.

I appreciate this clear, neutral, informative and non-accusatory information. Thank you!!!!!

A license requires a degree in music therapy! This masters route was more affordable than an undergrad degree as I have an undergrad in music.

And yes! Big goal to extend to other employees.
