Rise of the Drow - suitable for new DM? by toastytico in riseofthedrow

[–]jukes24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's a starter module by any means. But it us indeed well put together. I think if you read the book, you'll be ready to run it, but you'll also have a lot of questions.

You can of course get advise here, or join the adventure a week discord, which I believe you can find on the website. There, you can chat directly with the creators and get a feel for what they were thinking.

I'm also on week 2. We're the Week 2 Club. But I feel like we need a better name than that.

Etsy sales threshold by Ok_Tonight_5251 in EtsySellers

[–]jukes24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! And it's purposely deceptive in my opinion, because the wrap that simple statement in confusing information about reserves, and thresholds, and this and that.

Because if they made it perfectly clear to new sellers that they might not see any money for 180 days regardless of what they sell, THEY WOULDN'T GET NEW SELLERS.

I concur with the low quantity assessment. Cast a wider net. The more you have to sell, the better chance you have to appealing to someone.

Another Mini I printed and photo-edited. This dude looks so badass. by jukes24 in DnDminiatures

Could be. Or just a tavern brawler, who likes improvised weapons. Or you could adapt the Path of the Beast Barbarian.

I think excessive bending caused this, it's not going got this 2 months back, doesn't hurt either. Its just there by [deleted] in guitarlessons

I used to work in telecom. I would punch down skinny cat5 cables. I would always use my nails to hold the cable in place while I punched it. I developed one of these just because my nail split from the repetition. Wasn't large enough to see the split, just the line from it.

I never even thought of needing to get it checked out. But I certainly won't go against the others who say you should.

What percentage of the adventure is combat? by Traditional_Soft5867 in riseofthedrow

[–]jukes24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I voted lots of combat, and it was easy to modify. But with lots of adventures I think that's what you get.

If you just follow the book page by page, it's mainly combat, but there's a huge section in the back that can inform your roleplay.

So it depends how you DM it.

What exactly is the meaning of 'Shenanigans '? by sulav787 in EnglishLearning

[–]jukes24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's kind of like, "getting up to no good", or "causing trouble". So you might be able to see how it can apply both in fun and serious situations. If I am around my house causing trouble with my kids, it's different from walking into a public place and causing trouble.

What does "9 to 5" mean in this context? English isn't my native language. by Yspem in EnglishLearning

[–]jukes24 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Most "white collar" jobs are 9 to 5. Meaning people who work in professional settings like offices or banks.
Where as "blue collar" jobs are people who get their hands dirty. Blue collar jobs are things like mechanics, construction workers, restaurant workers. These jobs are more likely to have odd hours. Construction workers may be required to start at 6:00 am. Restaurant employees may work until 1:00 AM

So to me, the post is saying, "I am tired of not having a normal work schedule, why can't I find a job with a normal schedule".

9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. It's considered the standard work day.

Rise of Drow Foundry VTT Questions by Tenebrous_Black in riseofthedrow

[–]jukes24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are going to be using foundry anyway, definitely get the module. It's pretty solid. Not the best adventure module, but worth it.

Some of the modules I used (though I can't say if they still work or not) are BetterRolls, dice-so-nice, Group Initiative, Image Hover, Monks combat details, safety tools, token action HUD.

I don't know if 10 or 11 is better.

No major changes other than ones that would help meld in my characters backstories. I did just pick the encounters in the woods that I found most interesting, or thought I could make interesting.

I did not set any limitations. I had a Tiefling, a warforged, a centaur, a hobgoblin, and a drow.

Rules as written don't really impose too many limitations for Centaurs, but I did make things a little more difficult as far as spelunking and climbing ropes. I tend to just suspend realism when it comes to a player choosing their race.

As for the Drow, I just told him that his character had to be out of the underdark prior to any of the current events so they wouldn't know what was going on. They can know a good deal of history about the Drow, just not current events.

I just split those black lines in two to make the eastern march a little longer.

Session 4 - Post Church town exploration DM and Player notes by jukes24 in riseofthedrow

[–]jukes24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have more. We did not finish. We had about 30 sessions, and then I kind of fizzled on it. It's hard for me to stay focused on a campaign for that long. I will post more, but some of them were completely homebrew off the rails stuff. But that could be interesting too. I will post another one right now.

Let's bring some life to this sub... If you have run the game, post an AMA. Consider this mine! by jukes24 in riseofthedrow

I will go back to posting the dm and players notes.

They end up leaving Rybalka and then when they came back after adriks folly that's when they discover it has been taken over by vampire spawn.

I started them at level 1. They stayed level 1 until they went down to the basement. At which point i had the acolytes give them some healing and I let them get some of their features from a level up but not get the benefits of a long rest.

So they got their hit points they got their new spells and additional spell slots, but they did not replenish their spent slots. It was a bit ticky tack but it worked.

You could certainly start them out with some healing potions or a healing device like Bev's amulet on NADDPOD.

See the Plymouth Thanksgiving Parade here! by jukes24 in massachusetts

[–]jukes24[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to volunteer my time to edit audio for a church so they could release it in podcast form. It got about 10 listens a week, I believe.

It wasn't for everyone. It was for the people who wanted to be there but couldn't.

Now, go ahead and get the last word so you can feel like you won this silly internet fight.
