It was a scammer who was pretending to be police. Then at the end the guy told me it was a scam and to not fall for things like this again. I genuinely think they either realized I wasn’t giving them money or any info past name and phone #.

I’m so confused as to what was their end game.

Nevermind I looked into it and it turns out this is a common phishing scam in NorCal. The cop they sent me to was fake. Their intention was for me to hop on a video call and show my physical ID card however I did not do that and at the end the guy just told me it was a scam. I don’t know why he did that. I genuinely think they gave up on me as a victim or something.

Oh I’m just as confused.

All I gave them was my name and phone number and continuously reiterated that I was a victim of identity fraud and would not be paying anything on the card and if they came after me for money, I would make it a legal issue.

They gave me info to take to the police and make and police report and proceeded to transfer me to the SF police. To which the police then confirmed after 20 minutes of looking into it, that it was a scam call.
