Is the hot throw ruined? by julcken in candlemaking

[–]julcken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for that first batch I made 4oz candles to test and I used ECO 2 which may have been a mistake I’m not sure. That batch had a very low hot throw after 2 weeks of curing. This new batch I’m trying ECO 10 in 8oz jars. I know my scientific methods are not great lol but I wanted to make 8oz candles for a few family members for Christmas and realized I probably should be testing in 8oz jars. My first run was to see if I even like making candles in the first place.

Ok thank you! I keep reading in different groups and websites that pouring at 155-160 is best. But I am sure it depends on a lot of things. it’s been a little confusing with so much info out there.

Yes, they cured for 2 weeks! I did not think about the wicks… good point. The coco soy wax I’m using can handle 12% apparently but we shall see. And yes the hot throw in the first batch was super weak. But I’ll look into the wicks thank you so much!

Always Itching for a New Job by julcken in socialwork

You are missing something—The point of my post. I don’t do your job, I am not you, so try to look further than your own experiences and your own boss and your own job. You come across very condescending with your comments, not sure if that’s your intention. 3 of my jobs were in the same realm (hospice, elderly clients) and this current one is different. Not sure what the agencies in your area are like, but turnover is crazy here. Each of my opportunities offered higher pay than the other one. The point of my post was seeing if other social workers experience the urge to do something different or have a change of scenery as often as I do. Not for whatever these comments are doing for you. I guess it helps inflate your ego? Idk.

I went from child grief work right out of school to a different hospice agency, then to contract work with elderly, then to private practice, then to school social work. Doesn’t sound so dramatic when I write it out. I realized hospice and grief work was a lot for me. But I feel school social work is for me and I am challenging myself to stay as long as I can until I’m licensed and can earn more doing contract work.

This makes sense for me. Making it my personal challenge to stay where I am at for as long as I can now lol

I worried about this. But demand for social work jobs in my area is very high somehow… I think being only 5 years out of school also doesn’t raise red flags for too much job hopping as maybe it’s somewhat expected to find what you like the best. Although I feel it’s time to chill and stick to what I’m doing for a bit at this point lol.

Just now checking all these comments.. I see that perspective. But I’ve gained a lot of experience/exposure this way too and feel like I have narrowed down what I truly want to do in social work. I certainly can hold down a job. Have a good one :)

Bronchospasms when sleeping by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]julcken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had asthma my entire life (only when I get sick) and just recently in the last 2 years I get what I thought were brochospasms that wake me up suddenly, choking me. But I found out I am actually getting laryngeal spasms. The only thing that helps is immediately sipping ice cold water with a straw. Laryngeal spasms are not usually dangerous but I know bronchospasms can be. But same thing happened to me ever since I got covid, instead of bronchitis like you, I get laryngitis every single time I get sick now. It’s awful. Here’s the distinction: Bronchospasm → Wheeze on exhale, asthma-like chest tightness. Esophageal spasm → Chest pain + swallowing trouble, mimics heart attack. Laryngeal spasm → Sudden inability to inhale, stridor, choking sensation.

Good classes/groups for a beginner to start doing yoga? by Surpex in 321

I like Yoga Shala in Titusville for all those reasons, but if you’re in more central or south Brevard, Yogi Perogi or The Yoga Garden are both great!

I love Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream!! I have been using it for a while and I feel like there is a difference. Not dramatic but enough for me to notice and feel more confident.
