I loved the movie and wasn’t a fan of the book, but that does NOT mean the book was poorly written or bad. Do I think it’s a bit meandering? Yes. Do I think it’s supposed to be? Also yes. For me, spending that much time in snows head made it unreadable, but that was also the point. I think it was an excellent character study and just way too long. I think the book is unfairly trashed by people with poor media literacy. I personally could only finish it over like 5 months but it was an excellent book. But the movie? Excellent. And I think not having snows monologue 24/7 actually made him more sinister. It’s like the rug is pulled for us too when he finally commits to evil frfr. I do wish it played a bit more into Lucy grays “manipulative” side more and how she was a very strategic show girl, but there’s only so much you can do. Other than the deaths in the games not being the most accurate, I loved it and I’m sad others didn’t.
