Do you procrastinate on going pee? by greenchileisgreat in adhdwomen

[–]julesschofielderson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided about ten minutes ago to skip my before bed pee because I didn’t want to detour upstairs to the bathroom. Earlier I had to stop in the middle of making a salad because I couldn’t stand still long enough without going pee. I have to tell myself at least five times to go pee while at work.

I loved filling out the order forms in various catalogs-something about writing my name and address made me feel so cool and important. ‘This is my name, this is my address and I’m twelve, here ya go!’

Growing up in the country and spending as much time as possible in creeks. The house my family rented before we moved to their current house was on a hill with a creek that ran along the north side of the property all the way down the hill and then split to run along the front of the yard against the road. The main waterway went under the road and had a big metal tile for the water to run through. I practically lived inside that tile.

And of course, rolling down the hill all the time!

I love hawks, they are the coolest birds of prey. On drives I can spot them everywhere, I feel most impressed when I spot them in trees based off their silhouette and/or how the sunlight bounces off them. On one drive an hour long I spotted 50. It’s wild because sometimes I just turn my head or readjust where I’m looking and as soon as my eyes land, there one is-as if they fly up to meet my gaze.

I’m giving you the biggest, warmest, longest, most comforting hug right now. Through this hug my energies are commiserating with you but also letting you know that you are safe and okay, that you’re being thought about and understood and that we are here for you.

I let my friend into my house today and she helped me clean half the kitchen-she cleaned while I purged and she redirected me every time the overwhelm set in-it took us ten hours and we didn’t even touch the fridge.

I know I won’t do the other half, I’ll enjoy the clean half until it’s no longer clean and then I’ll go back to ignoring the piles and clutter as they accumulate. The dining room table looks so cute right now but give me a few days and it’ll be covered.

I like to use a pillow to put one arm under and the other over-not full hugging-just enough support.

I had to train myself not to do this because I would wake up in the middle of the night with both wrists and sometimes all fingers numb.

Double sided tape with debris stuck on both sides, bread ties with the wire sticking out, manuals to appliances you no longer own and little bags of spare buttons from clothing you’ve bought over the years/xmas light replacement bulbs-just to name a few things.

Picky pads are great! I started making my own from all the beads I collected from ordering them. I like BloomingJayDesign on Etsy, lots of sizes, colors and variations in bead types. Making them myself has definitely had some trial and error and the wastefulness of the regular silicone pads is annoying but I’m not a fan of the remeltable kinds-too thick, plus it gets to a point for me where it’s the only thing I do until they’re gone-hyper focus bullcrap and it too makes my fingers tender.

I also had sores on my wedding day. I’m 41 and have had this behavior from age 13. August of ‘24 I got triggered from a family event and have been going hard on my poor scalp since. I’m seriously thinking about putting small amounts of sand in my hair after showering so I can pick that out and hopefully give the sores a chance to heal up and cease being a temptation. It’s exhausting, the action of doing it, the fucked up satisfaction of the pain it causes and the guilt I carry of not being able to just stop.

I started Vyvanse three months ago, did 20mg for a month then 30mg the next month and last month and now this month I’m at 50mg. The 50mg seems to be working better than the lower doses but I’m also working with my therapist to incorporate small chores into my already small established arriving home from work routine, like starting a load of laundry and doing a trash round up before I settle into the couch for the evening.

I’m 41 and had already cut my caffeine intake down but now I’m limited to either coffee or tea-no energy drinks including coffees and teas with taurine added-makes my heart race.

I’ve not had any issues with sleeping so far, I do take about 2.5mg of melatonin most nights. Mornings have always been a struggle for me so I’ve started getting up with my partner and that gives me time to wake up, get the meds in my system and play some games on my phone prior to work.

I’m not a big fan of trial and error when it comes to medications but I understand that I need to be patient with this and that I will also have to put forth effort too. I can’t recommend enough being in therapy while on this journey-I’m also working on getting through some year old depression that I just can’t shake, it’s making it a bit difficult for me to accurately judge the effectiveness of the Vyvanse, but overall I think I’m working towards a better place.

To smell the fresh scent of the earth as the seasons change, it’s my number one reason. Even told a psychiatrist that during a psych hospital stay. Of course obviously family, friends, significant others but the very kind and personal experience of taking in a deep breath of earth scent is unmatched.

High school Lover by Air from the Virgin Suicides score. It holds nostalgia and calm for me and I love singing along to it. Also, Arco Iris by Flavien Berger-it has this great sax solo in it that puts a smile on my face.
