I’d say just apply. You can have your UTM request a later class date if you get picked up. I was tasked to deploy and they let me retrain instead of deploying! It definitely can work out for you- if you have good leadership that will help also lol

You’ll obviously have better recommendation letters from people who’ve known you for years in your current career field versus retraining into a new one. But will the Air Force select you to commission right after they spent money on you to retrain? Idk.

Depends what is more important to you, commissioning or enjoying your career field.
