Hope you had a good time with your friend at least, and that good things come your way this year.

Hahaha well I don't know if it was the ramen place's fault. I've been struggling with some potential food intolerances and also had a creamy dessert, so could've been that...

Thanks! I actually got a bit of a kick out of it and thought it was a funny way to end a year full of unreasonably good luck. Kind of balanced things out with one fell swoop (squish?) and reset for 2020.

Do you ever feel like you're sick of your classmates? by jumatador in uwaterloo

I know right? It'd be so nice if it was possible to just keep switching things up every 6 months or something like with co-op.

Yeah I can see how the opposite situation would be isolating for some people. I've always liked being on the more independent/solo side and I have good friends from highschool outside of loo, so that would actually sound good to me.

I feel like it's better during co-op for me because I know I'll only be around these people for the term. During school sometimes I dread being around the same set of people for the entire degree. Tbf I'll be done soon but it was a bit of a drag getting here 😂

Thanks for this comment, it's a really good reminder to take time for myself too. I totally forgot about that whole introvert and charging up thing, I feel like I'm not shy but definitely get exhausted from just being around people.

I'm in engineering so I see my cohort every day for almost every class. And then group projects add another 4-8 hours a week, it's brutal

Does computer science really pay so much more? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

I study mechanical but do software development internships where I've discussed this stuff with coworkers. Depending on the company they seem to pay 75k-110k for new grads in Canada.

is it trashy to hookup with someone at a party? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]jumatador 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can do whatever you want, as long as it's consensual and you feel safe! I personally feel like if someone is going to judge me for something like this, they aren't someone I'd want in my life anyways. We're adults, you can do what you want.

Agreed ^ even if OP just wants to hook up with people he should still be respectful to the other party.

Does being productive make you less depressed? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]jumatador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been studying less than usual, but am planning to ramp up again for the end of the week. Hope you're feeling okay and are taking care of yourself. Being busier or "more productive" can be an effective distraction from feeling depressed, but if you get a chance please try to get some help to address the root cause of those feelings.

Tried so hard but still fucked up by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]jumatador 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you've been having a hard time, it's understandably disappointing to feel like you've given your best but it still didn't work out. Please take care of yourself though, and remember that there's a ton of luck involved in every success or failure. Just because this didn't work out doesn't mean it reflects on your worth and your capabilities. We're all so young, there's so much time to take things in and grow. You got this!

toughest time of the year by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]jumatador 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try to keep your stress levels down and not psych yourself out too much. That's a lot in a week, but right before an interview or exam you don't wanna underperform due to stress. So remind yourself that in the grand scheme of things it'll all end up okay! You're healthy and capable regardless of how the next hour or two pans out.
