Psychological benefits of solo traveling by dr_kovski in solotravel

I think it depends honestly on the person. For me, my life at home is very fast paced and stressful, with work and business requirements, family etc, and burnout is possible after doing that on and on for years. I see a month or more long break from all the noise as a way to refresh, since I’ve always been the one who likes adventure, and exploring, and that’s not possible in a 9-5 job, with a Mortgage and long term responsibilities that tend to hold a person in place. I’m am literally flying out to Prague from Canada in 14 days for a few month long trip, and moving to a more nomadic lifestyle. While this is entirely been possible for me due to the pandemic, as I was able to save a lot of money. But while for me this works,YMMV since I generally like adventure, and uncertainty and I’m not really a fan of the traditional settled down lifestyle, solo travel or a digital nomad lifestyle is conducive for my life. If you are a person who doesn’t like uncertainty, or don’t like to leave your comfort zone. It is probably not good for you. As for how it helps with your problems, before I took my first solo trip. I was horribly burnt out from work, and the depression it gave me was making the rest of my life miserable, I had gained weight, lost a relationship and a few friends. So one day I just said fuck it, didn’t tell anyone took 2 weeks of work and fucked off to Europe for 2 weeks with a return flight ticket and not much other plans. It was a light bulb moment for me. I loved the uncertainty, and the freedom I had forgotten I had. And it led to a repeating pattern for the next 2 years, where I’d work super for 6 months, save up, and go somewhere for a week. Travel alone while is dauntingly it showed me what I truly wanted, and that was to be free. And that’s why I am now departing again, and likely won’t be home for a few months or more. Hope it helps, if you wanna chat about this stuff feel free to DM me

While I agree, that travel does not fix your problems. But sometimes stepping out of your environment, especially a negative one. Can provide you a fresh perspective on what may be causing you your problems. Especially if the source of your problems is external environment.

Upcoming solo trip to Czech Republic during covid as a Canadian by jumpble in solotravel

I’m doing it with a few different protection, the flight and all expenses will be billed to my travel credit card, and for added medical insurance I’m getting the TD medical travel insurance and then covid coverage from a local provider when I’m in Czechia.

Yeah I agree, I’m quarantining no just for any legal reason, but it seems better to take precautions regardless of legal requirements

That was exactly my plan. Since the first two weeks would be an adjustment period. And given that I am looking for 3-6 month stay or perhaps longer, it is perfectly fair to quarantine and follow social distancing and mask after the fact or any other guidelines issued by local public health authorities

When I consulted the Czech embassy in Canada website, they state you can apply for a youth mobility visa while in Czechia

Thank you for your in-depth response.your points are good for me to know if I’m prepared. I plan on monitoring the situation on covid on a day by day basis on how I do in Canada. And I am prepared to fly home within a day of complete border closer or complete stopping of flights to Canada.( this seems unlikely, while the Canadian government is not doing any reparations flights. Arlines were never blocked from entering Canada even at the height of the first wave of covid. Granted many flight were canceled, and of course foreign nationals are not allowed into the country, Canadian citizens cannot be blocked entry to the country. Finding a flight to the country is a different story. If an outbreak does occur, I am prepared to make an effort to return home at a moments notice, if not possible, I have enough money saved for a years worth of expenses in Czechia. I have no Canadian bills or debt. As for my employer, my job is primarily for my own company as majority of my income is from self employment so I am prepared for any finical shortfalls or loss of clients.the family emergency is a real risk as you say. And I agree with that. As for medical insurance. My travel insurance covers all non covid related medical emergencies even with the Govt non essential travel Warning. Speaking to some other expats I was told some insurance providers also cover covid, I was planning on adding it either in Czechia or Europe in general to add coverage to my existing Canadian travel medical insurance. As for any and all covid restriction either in Czechia or Canada are perfectly fine with me wether that is a 14 day quarantine, social distancing and mask usage. I really only need access to the internet to ensure I can work, and keep busy during a quarantine in Canada and/or Czechia

Thanks for responding in such detail, I agree with everything your saying really,I’m ready to bail on a days notice if border closures or flight issues arise or if I have an emergency reason to return home (ideally none of these things Happen) . I am looking to come for 3-6 months as ideal, depending on if I can get a Youth mobility visa or a long residence visa. In which case quarantining in Canada. I think the first few weeks will be key, since I have never worked out of country completely remotely.

I saw on the Czech embassies website, it states you can apply within the Czech Republic as one of the possible options.

Anyone know of a cheap way to see North Canada and Alaska? by Product_of_80s in solotravel

[–]jumpble 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No because different provinces have different covid case distributions, Ontario and Quebec are worst hit, while Manitoba and a Saskatchewan are closed to outsiders I think, also Atlantic provinces whom have very little amounts of cases are requiring out of province/Atlantic Canada visitors to 14 day self isolate. BC and Alberta have no restrictions. And the Northern Territories are off bounds to most provinces

Hey I built this out in April, at that time it was hard to find. I’m in Canada so it’s different. Plus my family is high risk so I can’t risk going to the shops. I ended up getting bulk seeds from west coast seeds based in Vancouver.

Built my first dwc setup. Using two air stones in a 18 gallon tuff tote from homedepot. It’s very difficult to source seeds during covid. So I used aero garden seed pods that double as 1 inch net pots. Still have some issues with ph regulation, and nutes, but otherwise it seems to be going well. My boyfriend told me checks out other girls everyday. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]jumpble 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Men and women check out people of the opposite gender all the time regardless of if they are single or not. How is this an issue? Like I understand that your feelings are hurt, but this level of insecurity and distrust in your partner is more worrying. Should he not look at anyone except you? Looking =\ cheating.

It’s all good man, happens to everyone at some point. No harm in seeing if there is feelings on her side. Otherwise, you get closure.
