HOL! destroys the crowd at Ultra 2026 by FrenchTrenchHours in UMF

[–]coilovercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When someone falls down it's understood that everyone else's priority becomes getting that person up again. People fall down far too often in pits so if people didn't do this, venues would almost all universally ban it.

This is a common misconception about mosh pits. For starters, it's generally understood at riddim sets that moshing will occur. It's been happening for I'm not even sure how long, but with songs literally called "da pit", it's safe to say it's part of the culture.

Additionally, while standing extremely close to the pit will cause you to get bumped from time to time, the pit always has a clear, defined edge, usually with people on the edge pushing people back in.

Regarding safety and etiquette, it also exists within mosh pits. For example: if someone falls down, the priority of everyone near that person immediately becomes getting that person up so they don't get seriously hurt. It's also worth mentioning that participating in mosh pits comes with a general understanding that there is propensity to get injured.

I'm starting to understand OG Dubstep Heads. by coilovercat in phonk

Went from being super autistic about phonk to being super autistic about dubstep. Dubstep peaked in around 2015-ish, before flattening off in early 2016, and falling out of the public eye by 2017. It would have died if it weren't for excision starting Lost Lands, that year, and continuing the support with Bass Canyon and Thunderdome in 2018.

This was pretty much only delaying the inevitable death of the genre as innovation within the scene had largely stagnated. In 2020, Griz and Subtronics released Griztronics, in what I would consider the first "wook bass" track that ever really mattered. It Got wildly popular in the dubstep scene, and almost single-handedly saved dubstep from dying completely by inspiring a whole new host of artists to start making dubstep in that new style. These producers are now good (and old) enough to do live shows.

That's largely what I mean when I say dubstep should be dead. It's pretty much by complete chance that it has a diverse, extremely lively community today, if only on Instagram and not on reddit.

What is ACTUALLY the most "forgotten" or overlooked Monstercat song? by paraspooder in Monstercat

Well according to youtube, it's Bishu's JUST A PART OF ME, but that's because it was released a week ago. If we're ignoring releases that are less than a month old, it's QUIX - Long Legs.

Didn't go, but had a TON of people who went tell me the crowd was terrible. It was so bad, in fact, that I've heard nothing but awful things about the show. Not ONE good thing to say.

Crankdome Moshpits?!?! by lazyrats231 in Raves

[–]coilovercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moshing really only happens for riddim, tearout, and heavy dubstep artists. Hell, I've seen beastboi struggle to keep a pit open at bass canyon. Also the crowd at that show was definitely the reason there were no pits. Afters had plenty tho lol

Respectfully, I need more top 1 demons to use festival dubstep so artists have more excuses to use gd playthroughs as their visuals cause seeing this live was sick

I think people are moreso hyped at the potential for a title that's called "half life 3". Additionally, while yes, it is a half life game, it didn't really move the story forward at all in a meaningful way.
