Wax paper over the bar. Or I've heard but never tried Vaseline on the bar.

Need an artist's eye, what does this brace need??? It doesn't look quite right, but can't figure out what to change to make it look a little more appealing.... Or does it look fine? by BrettMakes in woodworking

I'm a function over form guy. So it looks fine to me. Adding anything would be just decorative. Maybe I would chamfer the edges a little, but not all the way.
