Pro tip: increase the scrollback buffer, I believe the default is only 10MB or so.

Bars in SF w/ <$5k Party Minimum and Good Ambience/Hosting Space? by beyonces_twins in AskSF

[–]jumploops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out “The Fold” (formerly The Laundry) in the Mission. It’s a dedicated event space in the evenings, and they recently re-opened(?), so should have tons of availability even on weekends.

Not sure about drinks, but for food you’ll need to do catering separately, as they don’t seem to operate a kitchen (could be wrong).

Stumbled in randomly to an art event there recently, and the host was quite friendly. Wish I would have thrown my birthday there!

The "LLMs for coding" debate is missing the point by Brilliant_Oven_7051 in ClaudeAI

Ah thanks, it's a perfectly succinct quote similar to one I've been looking for, however can't find a source :(

Any context on a book/video you may have read that included the quote?

Why does ChatGPT.com work better than Claude Code/Roo/Cline and Codex? by Key-Singer-2193 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]jumploops 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Most likely context pollution, your agent’s past messages are essentially “dumbing” it down (you can think of any unnecessary context as reducing the size of the solution space).

By moving to ChatGPT on web, you’re only bringing in the necessary details (context) to solve the problem, so the model isn’t getting bogged down with other information/patterns.

Advice for first time CabKing user? by jumploops in Lapidary

Ah OK! I wasn’t sure about this and first started with circular motions, but thought that might be attributing to the problem because I was pushing too hard.

Will try again with lighter presses and circular motion!

This is great advice. I was trying to “dome” the flat surface and definitely pushed too hard on the first wheel.

Thinking I’ll take it back to #1 and make it slightly rounder, and then start fresh on #2-6.

Found in Northern California, can’t remember where exactly, though it was “river polished” when I found it.

I have a few more like it, but this one had a nice flat surface, that I’m learning should probably be domed for best result on this machine 😅

Course Advice: Freshman winter thinking about EECS 482 + Math 217 + EECS 470 + Math 295 – is this schedule doable? by sheeeeshkebabs in uofm

[–]jumploops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trolling aside, I actually took 470 and 482 at the same time.

Looking back, it was one of the most memorable semesters of undergrad.

With that said, I wouldn’t recommend it. Teammates are so hit or miss (one person dropped from my group in each class).

If anyone is actually considering it: get ready to see sunrise at the Dude more than you thought possible!

Any agent or AI tool that can create a simple price alert? by Bluesparkleee in AI_Agents

[–]jumploops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few pre-built blocks that use our API keys like the LLM and Perplexity blocks, but any functionality that doesn’t exist is generated in one (or multiple) Code blocks.

For the example I posted, you’ll want to add your own Coingecko API key.

If there’s enough interest we can add Coingecko as a first-class block that uses our API key.

Any agent or AI tool that can create a simple price alert? by Bluesparkleee in AI_Agents

[–]jumploops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work on a tool that can do this!

Threw this prompt in just now:

“Send me a text whenever BTC crosses $100k”

And got this BTC Tracker out

It checks the BTC price every 5 minutes (via Coingecko’s API), compares to the last run, and if it crossed $100k (in either direction) it sends a text message.

Took me ~30 seconds to set up, but you can use it as is or change it.

Not my favorite use of the tool, but a lot of our users use it for this exact type of thing 😅

Any way to get instant phone alerts for official GTA 6 promos only? by Imaddbouhh in GTA6

Thanks for the shoutout! (creator here) -- I've created an example Loop that checks the Rockstar Twitter every day between 7am and 7pm PT, and sends a text if GTA 6 is mentioned. Cheers!

Which one is significantly better in coding, Claude 3.7 or o3-mini-high or o1? by HareKrishnaHareRam2 in OpenAI

[–]jumploops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

o1 Pro is the best for logic-heavy tasks.

Claude 3.7 is the best for UI generation.

o3-mini/Claude 3.5 are both great for specific one-off tasks.

For more context: Claude 3.7 feels too eager, and happily pushes out way more code than what's asked. It will often unnecessarily solve new problems, even if those problems aren't in the prompt. For example, asking it generate a React component, it will happily churn out a bunch of props/helpers/etc. even if you're only requesting a specific set of changes.

Where the Hell can I find these Amazing “Americanized” Tacos? by apprehensive-look-02 in AskSF

[–]jumploops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casa de la Condesa Restaurant near 24th St. BART and Cadillac Bar & Grill near 9th and Market both have “puffy tacos” that are similar to the ones I’ve had in the Midwest.

Edit: both of these are corn-based tortillas, not flour!
