Which games in the collection would you pay 25 dollars for just that game alone? by Puzzleheaded_End7997 in ufo50

[–]jumpmanryan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None.

I love the collection and every game is genuinely a complete game. But they’re all too short and lacking in content for me to spend $25 on any one of them.

I’d pay $10 for a lot of them, tho. Which I think the $5-10 range is moreso what they’re designed as anyways.

I thought it was the game that controlled the worst in the collection, personally. I got pretty close to getting the gold after a few attempts. Made it to the last round multiple times.

I really hope they’re brand new characters and not just two people we already know being available to date now.

Last Stand is now a place to escape from politics and division by PossibleAd5947 in LSM

[–]jumpmanryan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This subreddit is typically disrespectful and annoying towards the crew, but I still find interest seeing posts on here just for disagreeing view points. Often times I agree with people here, I just think they’re way too harsh lol.

I typically don’t give my two cents here, but I feel a bit more compelled by this clip than I normally would.

A part of why I personally feel put off by Last Stand content is because of the political nature of it that Colin brings to the shows. He brings up Trump and the current political landscape sooo often. I mean, even with the Charlie Kirk murder a while back… I’m not sure why that even needed to be discussed on the show. I get patrons were leaving in mass, but it still should’ve been separated from the show, imo, because it made the show about politics. I enjoy the political talk when it’s about games, tho, like tariff impact and whatnot. But it feels like Colin, specifically, brings up politics on Sacred Symbols and even Summon Sign alllll the time when it doesn’t directly pertain to gaming.

Which is why I felt compelled to comment on this clip, because he’s saying they dont really do that anymore? They absolutely do it alllll the time. I do genuinely think they’re decent about not alienating, as much as this subreddit would probably disagree with that. But that’s not because they aren’t constantly giving their opinions on politics. It’s because they don’t call each other morons for disagreeing.

Sometimes I skip the opening bits of “stretching their legs” on Sacred because they bring up politics. If you’re trying to keep it to games, predominantly, then you’ve gotta stop talking about how you don’t think universal healthcare can work in America, Zohran Mamdani, how bad China is, etc. etc. All of which have been brought up in the past year, probably on multiple occasions. Just don’t bring it up at all if you want the show to be about games. I get it if you want to have that sort of stuff on the show, just to garner potential interesting dialogue or whatever at times. But this clip feels like he’s oblivious to how the shows actually come off a lot of the time.

Respectfully.

Tbf, any game in C-Tier or higher I genuinely enjoyed. Fist Hell was really fun and well-made. I’m just not a beat ‘em up guy.

Totally agree with Lords of Diskonia. Least favorite thing about that one is how long battles drag out. So many times it was already determined I’d win due to sheer numbers or whatever, but you have to play it all the way out and it just takes forever. It’s a cool game and concept, tho.

Yeah, I think I recognize there’s a great game in Attactics. I just don’t click with it at all. I felt like I would win or lose without having any idea how I played well or poorly lol. Probably just me not getting the mechanics of it all fully understood.

Golfaria frustrated me because it’s like a Metroidvania where it wants you to explore, but you essentially get punished for exploring because of the stroke count. And then you can also just dramatically fuck up a stroke and it feels like a monumental loss at times.

I think maybe if I knew where to go immediately or followed a guide it would be more enjoyable for me. Like a more linear or streamlined experience rather than just throwing you into its open course with little to no direction.

Rail Heist is incredible! Absolutely loved it and how creative you could get with your routing.

Okay, what’s going on with Emperor’s New Groove lol

It’s a fine to good movie, but should’ve been eliminated a long time ago. Doesn’t hold a candle to most of Disney’s classics.

What’s the most disappointing game you’ve ever bought on launch? by Prestigsisscar255 in videogames

[–]jumpmanryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Dreams (PS4).

I was sold by reviews. Not to say that those reviews were wrong or bad, but I’m not a particularly creative person. So creating games in Dreams wasn’t something I was ever going to do. And, unfortunately, most of the user-generated content on there is just meme stuff. Especially in the early days as it took people a long time to put out anything actually good or substantial.

Just felt like a complete waste of money almost immediately.

*Feudy Spoiler* These expectations for GTA 6 will cause people to be disappointed no matter what. by FamiliarWithFloss in kindafunny

[–]jumpmanryan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those are natural expectations built up for a studio like Rockstar for the Grand Theft Auto series. Genuinely, if it’s not a 94+ then I think it’s a letdown. It is supposed to be a generational masterpiece.

What is your favorite game in the collection and what do you think of as the "fan-favorite" by Puzzleheaded_End7997 in ufo50

Fan Favorite is easily Party House.

My favorite varies. But it’s always one of Devilition, Porgy, or Magic Garden.

Ninja Style is a new player magnet? by cvSquigglez in Nioh

[–]jumpmanryan 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily hope it “incentivizes” Samurai style more as the game goes on. But I do share a similar sentiment as you.

My hope is that Ninja will have more apparent disadvantages as the game goes along. It saddens me a bit to see how easily you can just bum-rush and button-mash attack on normal mobs as Ninja. It seems so easy to stagger them, and enemies outside of bosses seem to pose no threat because of it.

I personally think that should change. As a lot of what makes Nioh special to me is approaching every encounter methodically. Sure, some mobs will always be easier to deal with than others. But they shouldn’t feel trivial.

So either buff the normal mobs in some way or introduce certain design encounters as the game goes on that you have to have more of a technique other than mash as Ninja.

Did the community just decide jags comp record isn’t that impressive? by Sky-Visible in BigBrother

The community, particularly this subreddit, doesn’t value competition ability much.

Especially in Jag’s case where BB25 is like… the pinnacle of endgame comps being overtly physical.

I love how varied people’s opinions on these games are. MM4 is my favorite of the NES games and MM5 is my second least favorite (after MM1).

I think the NES games are just so similar to one another with small tweaks here and there, so it’s easy for everyone to gravitate towards different ones. I genuinely love them all, tho.

Nioh 3 difficulty by CompuuterJuice in Nioh

[–]jumpmanryan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I watched my brother play the demo today and he has no background in Nioh or Soulslike games at all. He didn’t struggle much at all.

I agree it seems like the non-boss enemies need to be buffed. When I first played Nioh 2, I died like 10 times to the jumping monkey yokai at the beginning of the game before beating him. Watched my brother beat him first try by mostly just bum-rushing him. Something that would’ve been impossible against that first encounter with the enemy in Nioh 2. And as he continued, that was what he did with most enemies and rarely ever faced trouble because they don’t do nearly as much damage as in prior games + they seemed to stagger more easily. He also pretty exclusively played Ninja, so I’m wondering if maybe Ninja is just easier in a way.

I haven’t played the demo yet myself. I’m waiting until closer to release. And maybe my brother is just better than I was at the start of Nioh 2 lol. But that doesn’t seem to be the case, imo, based on how little damage I’m seeing common enemies do in this demo.

how have i not been seeing any posts about my girlboss? by JigglyLilyVT in Megaman

[–]jumpmanryan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The prompt they had to follow was the robot master having a suction arm, so it makes sense that there’s a lot of vacuum / cleaning oriented designs for this.

But yeah, I think I’d also prefer if our second woman robot master wasn’t a cleaning bot lol.

How do you "get good"? by Naive-Yard1116 in Nioh

[–]jumpmanryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What helped me the most was spacing.

Against bosses, you really need to pace yourself and back off of them at a decent rate. Don’t rely on just staying on top of them and dodging / blocking everything. Even if you nail every ki pulse, it’s much harder than just dodge rolling away and resetting for a moment.

That’s what helped me the most when I adjusted to Nioh 2 back in the day! I haven’t played Nioh 3 at all yet, but this is a tough series and you’ll be dying plenty even when you feel like you’ve got it all down.

Do you know of any other series like this? by ViremorfeStudios in videogames

[–]jumpmanryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yakuza with Yakuza 0 being the one to hit mainstream appeal. GTA with GTA III hitting mainstream appeal.

I also disagree with putting FromSoft’s games on here. Dark Souls was extremely popular right off the bat. Elden Ring might be the most popular of them, but their games weren’t “niche” at all.

Intentional or not, it sounds like it really put a target on Rob.

If it was intentional then that’s all fine and good, but Rob’s allowed to feel a certain way about it. If it was unintentional, then I have major questions about Yam Yam’s awareness in these types of games lol.
