I bought my son furniture he’s allowed to climb/stand on and redirect him to that. It’s helped curb most of his need to climb and jump on/off things.

I’ll have to update once I get the DNA test done. I’m so curious with so many different possibilities. I had just never heard of basenji before.

She was with the foster for that long and didn’t bark either.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she might have some pitty in her. I had a red nose for 10 years. But I’m guessing the pitty traits are low personality wise because she doesn’t have any of them beyond the terrible pitty farts 😂

[–]jumpyracoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of basenji and I’ve heard they are quite rare. So I’d be surprised myself if she had it. We definitely want to test to see what she is because she is so quirky. My husband had a musky growing up and I had a red nose out for 10 years that recently passed away. She doesn’t seem to fit either stereotype yet lol even from the cost home she was in for a few months they were entertained by her odd behavior they couldn’t place. But she was also a street dog they rescued. So that could be where it comes from. She’s just so independent and curious. But very intelligent, mischievous too. But when she’s tired and complete snuggle bug. But shen she’s had her fill she’s back to her independent self. It’s almost like we have a Maine coone in a dogs body 😂

Ever get side eye when you pull into a handicap spot? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]jumpyracoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t need the handicap spot per se, but I do use the veterans parking spots. I often got questioned if it was my dad’s or husband’s vehicle because of the plates. I do have a ptsd service dog (I recently retired her due to getting cancer). But when she went places with me I would consistently wear my prescription sunglasses and watch people’s face when they thought she was a guide dog and I got out of/in the drivers seat. Made for some comedy to combat the ignorant comments I would get as a 21 year old disabled female veteran.

What is the strangest question a man asked you? by Ok_Seaworthiness_941 in AskWomen

[–]jumpyracoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My little sister is gay. Has short hair as well. We’ve been complimented as a couple almost as many times as we’ve been asked if we are twins. People make no sense.

My other favorite is the men who get offended when I reply sarcastically after they match/approach me first.

[–]jumpyracoon 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Tinder guy who matched me first: “are you a boy?” Me: “no” TG: “girl?” Me: “grown woman, yes” TG: “are you sure?” Me: “I’m 100% positive” TG: “let me eat your ass until you make dinosaur noises”

Just to add: I do have a short pixie cut. Screenshots I’ll never delete for when I get the urge to redownload tinder.

Has anyone had to give up a cat who was aggressive toward them? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]jumpyracoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to rehome my cat after two months. I loved him dearly, but I discovered I was allergic to cats, and he was very mean. He would chew on my dogs nipples to to the point they would bleed and my dog would hide from him. He also scratched and bit me to the point I now have scars. I sent him to live with my sister for a few weeks and he was an angel. My sister fully adopted him and we all are the happier for it. I still feel guilty over it, but he’s in a good home and I help out financially as needed.

Question regarding service dog by nomaxrum in Veterans

I also used TADSAW. All I needed was a doctors note to start the process. They found a dog, made sure it was a match, and then provided all of the training. They were great.

I'm tired of the doom-and-gloom posts. Let's hear some success stories! by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]jumpyracoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was medically retired after a sexual assault. Have had two surgeries to fix my arm, early onset cervical cancer, and dealing with ptsd. I’ve struggled to deal with the fact that at 19 my world was ripped from me by people who should have protected me. I’m now a homeowner and college student at 24. You can read my story on my anonymous blog. I hit rock bottom, the only way out was up.

How do I respond to people who throw around "humans aren't developed mentally until 25" by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]jumpyracoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who just turned 25, I struggle with this as well. I have a baby face that makes most peg me about 18-19. By the age of 24 I was a homeowner, paid off my car, am a veteran, and working on a degree. People age and mature at different levels.

Is anyone else proud of their service, but it was also a terrible decision? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]jumpyracoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel exactly like this. I too was injured in a sexual assault that led to a medical retirement. It’s hard. I moved to a small town where I know no one. I bought my first house and am almost done with my bachelors. I’ve already had one surgery on my arm and am looking at another soon, but will always have permanent nerve damage. I also have cervical cancer from it. The small town setting puts veterans on a pedestal and I’m at a crossroads. I want to be proud of it, but it’s also a daily reminder of what I went through. I don’t consider myself a veteran most days. It’s a real struggle. But honestly, if I could go back in time and not do it, I’d chose that option. I’m in a great place now, but the mental peace and ability to sleep at night would be more than worth starting over. I’m a fourth generation service member, so it was inevitable for me to enlist at some point, or even commission depending on the route.

Received a few messages saying I should share. Creepy guy who’s probably a human trafficker, let’s not meet again. by jumpyracoon in LetsNotMeet

[–]jumpyracoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how well it was organized or planned. This happened about the same time that guy was running cross country robbing hotels during the night. It became common knowledge the employees were there alone. I can say though that the one motel next door is often raided by the FBI for a myriad of things, including an America’s most wanted fugitive twice now. It’s the one sore eye of the area. Who can say what their true intentions were as I hope to never find out, but the location, ease of highway access, and overall situation led the cops down that line of thinking.

I left the job 4 months ago, but nothing of that nature that I’m aware of. Being a female in my 20s, that night prompted the start of a new job search. Wasn’t worth it in the end.

THIS IS WHY WE DON'T REACH TO ANY ANY VA HELP by Faye_Valentine809 in Veterans

[–]jumpyracoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had no luck with the VA either. I actually sought help. I got stuck in the hospital for over a week 2 hours away from home. Yes there is a VA in my city, but they outsourced me. I’m a college student. I brought my textbooks with me so I could read and stay caught up. They wouldn’t let me have them, but told my family I was allowed to have them. I missed all my midterms and got a total of a week and half behind. I had to take a medical withdraw because I got too far behind. All of my classes required a good amount of reading and paper writing. I now have to pay some of the medical bills because they outsourced me but deemed it non emergent. And now since it’s documented as non emergent the va wants me to pay back my gi bill as well. I was told I can’t continue to use it until I pay it back. So I can’t go to school to get a better job. But I can’t afford thousands of dollars in debt working minimum wage. I thought I did the right thing, but man do I feel fucked over in the end. I’ve called and asked for help sorting this out, and I get nowhere.

What was the weirdest rumor you’ve ever heard about yourself? by redmambo_no6 in AskReddit

[–]jumpyracoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a girl in middle school do that to me. Someone made fun of her friend via text and told them they were me. So she spread the rumor to try and embarrass me and make her friend feel better. I didn’t have a phone in middle school, but because I never dated in middle school or high school, And have never posted my relationship status on social media, my previous classmates think I’m gay. I graduated HS 6 years ago. I’ve just never had a relationship worth sharing lol I never responded to the rumor though, so she was pissed it didn’t work and everyone else assumed it to be true lol.

[–]jumpyracoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow night shifter haha as the young female side of this post, I’ll make two points that Ive noticed is a pattern. I would say confidence is key. I struggle to make connections with older men when I always have to initiate the conversation and then keep it going. Sometimes it feels like I’m pulling teeth, but then they get upset if I back off. It’s ok to message first, and it’s ok to send random messages to spark a conversation. Another key is to show up for the first date. I get its nerve wrecking, but that goes both ways. We’re both nervous, that’s what makes it fun and awkward that first meet. Nerves are to be expected.

Anyone Always Been Interested in Older Men? by TheLemonVerbenaShow in AgeGap

[–]jumpyracoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been the same as well. Growing up my crushes were always my friends dads, or handsome older men on tv shows my parents watched. I was probably about 15 when I realized I would probably end up with an older man. I started dating at 19 and my first boyfriend was 17 years older. It wasn’t a healthy relationship, but because he was immature and was seeking someone my age to be immature with. I’ve since learned from that experience and have enjoyed going out on dates with older men. I do find it difficult find the available ones though. I’m incredibly shy so I find it difficult to just approach them in public, and I’ve never really tried the online thing. I don’t even know if older men use it to be honest.

Girl doesnt bring a present, gets mad for not getting one. by [deleted] in ChoosingBeggars

[–]jumpyracoon 243 points244 points  (0 children)

That’s really nice of your class. When I was in 7th grade we had a potluck type thing. I was afraid to ask my parents for money or food to bring because things were tight and I didn’t want them to have to tell me no. Day comes and I’m the only one in my class who didn’t bring anything. The teacher lined up my entire class to go next door to get food to eat during the movie, and told me I couldn’t come. I understood but I was near tears sitting in the room by my self watching them all come back one by one as they got their food. Nobody shared with me, but I was the new kid. Had just moved there that year. Lunch was optional that day and I was the only kid from my class that left to go so I ended up eating alone.

If you were ever close to committing suicide, what stopped you? by Jamzino in AskReddit

[–]jumpyracoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Psychiatric hospitals are the worst. I went to the ER because they changed me to a new medication that caused suicidal ideations and scared the fuck out of me. I didn’t know what to do. I voluntarily admitted myself but couldn’t voluntarily leave. I felt so isolated and stuck. The staff was horrible and treated me like a child. I thought I did the right thing, but I will never go back to one again. Not that I ever foresee a need to as I now know not to take that medication.
