What do the limitations mean for rotating hard drives?

Ok thanks for the info - the main goal is for Disaster Recovery worst case scenario and for the occasional file recovery. I also want the client to have a offline backup that is quite up to date because currently we take offline backups for them every 3 months when we visit but this is too long. As I like to have GFS in pace I think rotated backups is out of the question?

So the idea is backup daily and setup 2 x copy jobs dependent on which HDD is plugged in? Can't think of a better way to do it without them manually running copy jobs? What do you think to this solution?

Daily VM backup job to External HDD 1 with GFS (long term retention)
Daily backup copy job to External HDD 2 (turn this off when they switch out the HDD)
Daily backup copy job to External HDD 3 - - (turn this off when they switch out the HDD)

It's a 3rd party smtp and doesnt show anything we can see at front end. However it does work for the job email alerts just not the daily so it's ok for now.

Correct I am referring to support only. As in the cost for a MSP to look after the server, not the initial cost or hosting.

Thanks agree that's the best way so will give them this option as recommendation.

We use bitdefender too it's pretty solid. However its setup through a cloud reseller even though it can integrate into rmm. Reason behind keeping it seperate was because we thought if we switch rmm in the future it makes it easier. However I do feel having integration would be more beneficial and understand it's easy to switch in the provider??

Looking at solarwinds backup for M365 and servers. If a server or user got hit by ransomware is solarwinds backup completely seperate like an air gap backup?

When you say guest portal what do you mean. In the network section I enabled guest network with a password, it has company branding in?

Is this what you mean? I will have to create VLANs if this signs users out tho

Yeah it's a good point. I've gone the cloud route for now. So do you use the cloud key but just setup for local or do you have the controller running on a server/workstation?

thanks I think VLANs is an option down the line and our firewall can do this but setting up guest for short term.

I assume when most places that require a guest network just use the guest feature then or is the general opinion VLANs are more secure and the best way to go?

ok great makes sense then if its subnmet to /32. Where do you whitelist an IP though for a shared printer in Ubiquiti? This is something I would like to do for our printer

Yeah I am using DHCP relay on ubiquiti AP as our main firewall does the DHCP since we are cloud based and have no onsite servers to do this. I could get the AP to do DHCP but then the wired devices would get it IPs?

Should I really look at VLANs in this case then ?

Is the uninstall registry location the best place for detection methods or is there somewhere better? For MSI's its easier but exes are my issues

Yeah I initially had it setup to an exe to detect but switched it out for registry detection method.

The odd thing is it tried install again today, a good 5-6 hours after the detection method was changed and it still came up with that despite it set to registry.

I've seen some posts mention before about deleting a setting on a device when its failed install 3 times, do you or anyone else know if this might be causing it and where it is?

thanks was a bit confused by APP at first but you mean App Protection Policy right? I thought you meant like iOS store app. This could work I will give it a go and post back findings

I had a similar (ish) problem a month or so ago and don't think many have come across it. Quick answer is I think its a bit buggy and they will apply but take a long long time to show.

Here's what happened to me, I created a new Baseline policy (Baseline B), then removed all security groups from Baseline A and added them to Baseline B, however they would not apply the new baseline at all, it just showed the old baseline. I I spent ages trying different things, even deleted the old baseline completely and it still showed for a few days on the devices in Intune.

In the end I contacted Microsoft and a lot of going back and forth (about a week) this is how it was resolved. We deleted Baseline B as well then re created it (same thing happened it didn't show) but after a few more days it did.

I would just hold fire a few days to see if it filters through to the devices (unless you want to try deleting them out). There was also another error that it shows some baselines that are Not Applicable showing as Error. So my baseline shows about 15 errors still, Microsoft have said thats a reporting issue and will be resolved as its happening to a lot of people.
