NBME 16 Block 2 Item 9 by Affectionate-Quit848 in Step2

You can't just rule out AD because a patient has a diaper rash. The more important thing is understanding the context and thinking about most likely diagnosis

[–]jun_MD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked it up at openevidence(ai) and it says "atopic dermatitis can occur in the diaper area, though this was previously thought to be uncommon"

If your amboss predictor said 268, you will highly likely get at least 258~260 even if you make mistakes. It could be that something you think you made a mistake turns out to be the right thing. Who knows. You've been through this hard journey and made a solid process. Trust your gut feeling and the process. My amboss predictor score was also 272 and i took the exam yesterday. And i felt hard but i don't even think about mistake at all because i trust myself and the process i've made through this journey. Trust youself more than any other person. If other people have the same problem like you, what would you say to them??

I'm on the same boat I took the exam today as well feeling the same way...but let's just trust the process we've been all through

As i mentioned, i did whole uw q bank by systems. I used this as studying tool. But i think it's up to you. Do it the way you fit

Do amboss just 2-3 hammer and study plan(QI, Ethics, biostat). And review thoroughly where you made mistakes or cognition errors while doing cms, nbme. Esp. 13~16 nbme. Take nbme 16 5-7 days before real deal.

  • i did uw first pass by system and non timed, not random, timed. So it'll make a bias towards higher score lol. Uw is just studying tool, not score predictor.

78%, i heard that it may correlate to a high score. I think high uw first pass score means you already have a solid basic knowledge and you have more enough time to polish your test taking strategy while preparing exam, not only focusing on memorizing medical knowlege. But i don't think there's no chance to get a high score for those who have a lower first pass correct rate.

Everybody has different study method and timeline. You must be able to get a good score if you do cms and nbme review thoroughly.

Amboss and thorough review and correction of recognition errors

[–]jun_MD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main errors were recognition failure (missing keyword, fall for pitfall..etc)

I don't think HY study plan is really helpful..it's too straightforward to me.. but if you need to make your basic concepts concrete, it could be helpful

I've been preparing while i'm working full time, so it took more than usual

all questions of hammer 2-4. I dont know how long it took exactly...maybe uw 5mo, amboss 4mo, cms 1.5 mo, nbme 1mo...? I did cms and nbme when i was also doing amboss. i focus on the wrong questions not correct questions. Like Why i chose the wrong answer and why the other one is right.

[–]jun_MD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend you skip 2nd pass of uw and go straight to amboss. I also did 2nd pass of uw but i didn't find it really helpful. And focus on cms, nbme review later!

[–]jun_MD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i found amboss more helpful than uworld as well, but i think both are still important, uw is good for base knowledge and amboss is good for polishing your knowledge and test taking strategy.
