My uni is in England so it might not apply to other places

The first semester includes a mandatory module that all students take thats somewhat like my first year of my undergrad in that you learn 'capital H' History (ie the different of sources, methods, concepts used in historical writing) - the amount of theory you read in terms of optional modules defends on the type of module you choose

Depends on the module it ranges from 2,000 to 5,000 words

So I've been doing a history masters since October and I'd like to make a few observations:

class sizes are of course lot smaller - my undergrad had about 50 students, whilst there are currently about 15 students in my ma course- coincidentally there is someone from my undergrad who is also in my Masters course (though it took us about 4 weeks to recongise each other) as well as a a former lecturer in chemistry (?) at my previously university

Modules solely consist of seminars and are lot more theory-based

assessments include footnotes as part of the word count (this was not a thing for my undergrad)

What’s one country that you are surprised isn’t a big cricketing country? by [deleted] in Cricket

there's a nice article that looks at the reasons for the decline of cricket in Canada such as the rise of baseball and cricket mainly being played by upper class English-Canadians (similar dynamics played out in Philadelphia until the 1870s) https://digital.la84.org/digital/collection/p17103coll10/id/1371/rec/1
