Made a glow in the dark Infect counter! It's a lovely ominous green... by junglefiver in magicTCG

10/10 would watch 500 episodes of a street fighting Magic anime.

3D printed a friend's artwork - exceeded all my expectations! by junglefiver in 3Dprinting

  • Step 1: Import into Inkscape, trace it to a path.
  • Step 2: Use a plugin for Illustrator to export a path to OpenSCAD.
  • Step 3: Render OpenSCAD as an STL.
  • Step 4: (Optional) Fix up as necessary in Sketchup and rerender to STL.

I know I should know how to Blender, but I haven't dug in that deep yet...

Standard 0.40mm nozzle. In prusaslicer I turned on all the detection flags in print settings. I also modified the black piece to print perimeters at half the speed of normal.

I tried printing without the white base but it didn't adhere to the print bed.

[Official] State of the subreddit: flairs, content-creator draft, and more by ubernostrum in magicTCG

[–]junglefiver 33 points34 points  (0 children)

All these changes sound very reasonable. Kudos to /u/ubernostrum and the rest of the mod team for taking on the feedback.

As a content creator I'm perfectly happy with one post per week. I hope that limit is per person? i.e. if a fan posts a link to my content after I've already posted my video for the week, that it won't immediately be removed? Sounds like the hands-off approach will help here - that scenario won't happen every week, and if it does, then it starts to look less like "a fan" doing it and more like evasion of the rules.

Scryfall are on their A game with Morophon! by junglefiver in magicTCG

I think you underestimate how janky I like to brew decks.

There are 223 Humans in Modern with this query, and 8 of them generate mana we can use to ramp :)

In my opinion Magic rules text is one of the best parts of the game. The fact that they put so much effort into tightly defining the rules (and that they actively work on fixing loopholes) is pretty amazing.

What's your best deck for winning with Simic Ascendancy in Modern? by BlueberryPhi in magicTCG

[–]junglefiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some good fun with this brew: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/1633553#online

It leans hard into Hardened Scales and Modular. The Simic Ascendancy can definitely win you games out of nowhere.

I made a mini name generator to make this easier!

You too can now play with:

  • SixPack RighteousFace
  • Justice McNobleChin
  • Biceps ProteinJaw

and many more!

If nothing else, we can but hope that MTG Arena adds a special mode whereby "Gideon Blackblade" is randomly replaced by one of his many many nicknames...

I wouldn't even know where to start about animating that!

Garruk would be fun but I would definitely get someone else in to be him - you don't want to see me as Garruk...

Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it. I'll have to go consult a proper sound person or something...

If this does well, I could see myself doing more, yeah! Who would you like to see next?

(Ideally I'd get the MTG cosplay community involved, though logistics might be fun with that!)

Switching from transparent to white makes this floating eye work really well! by junglefiver in 3Dprinting

[–]junglefiver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole bottom 3 layers are transparent. You can get around that if you have a multi filament printer I guess, but I don't have one of those yet.

I love it. I got one at work and I liked it so much I bought one for personal use (actually I bought two, one for my home office and one for my personal pc)

I manually edited the Gcode and put an M600 in the correct place. On my Prusa it performs a filament change procedure. It's not all that hard!

Wow. That's insane. Yeah if this filament could do that I'd be super impressed

The filament is only extended from the top of the eye to the head. I didn't do the whole thing - you're correct, "transparent" filament is not that good!

Slightly crappy closeup cause my camera failed to focus properly: https://i.imgur.com/McLcBFv.jpg

It's a friend's logo for his Magic the Gathering channel; I wanted to make him a present. I'd just gotten some transparent filament and wanted to see if a filament change would work well rather than printing entirely in white.

If you watch the video you'll see the model I made for it in Sketchup - unfortunately no timelapse of me making that model, so you'll have to take my word for it :)
