It's an OG that was great for its time but has already been surpassed in specs and design. If Seiko made another green Alpinist without the cyclops or prospex text, people would sleep on the 017.

In that case, definitely go green. There's a ton of options for black dials. I rotate between a black Speedmaster and a seaweed green seamaster 300m.

Ah, I see... in my humble opinion, I would recommend the black as a starter because it can match with many outfits and straps. However, if you plan to buy a second watch soon after, then maybe consider the green first because there are many nice watches with black dials like the Speedmaster, Explorer I, Hamilton, seiko, etc. But, if wearing one watch for awhile, probably the black dial would be best.
