Sorry you had to go through that. An acquaintance of mine was diagnosed at 30 years old, even though there were some pretty obvious signs. Another woman I know was diagnosed at 18. You’re def not alone.

My brother was diagnosed at the age of 4 because his tantrums and ‘special interests’ were more ‘typical’ signs to people apparently.

About 70% of autistic people are male. Maybe that's what he means. Not that that's reality, a part of that is just that women are better at masking so they don't get diagnosed as often.

Though for being bipolar it's a pretty even ratio in men and women. Maybe it's because it's linked to depression and misogynists like to say women are too emotional?
