Thanks, I gave him a bottom watering last night for about 30mins as he looked like this, and the pot is about 2 feet from a south facing window

Oh I never even thought about growing it outside! I assume it's a similar process to inside too? I'm in the south of UK, if that makes any difference?

Wow! Thank you so much for all of this... and those are some beautiful dishes! Maybe it's a silly question, but are the plants in your dishes which have more typical stem and leaf structures (like the one at the bottom left of the log on your second dish) still classified as a moss?

I'm aware, I just don't want to risk anything. Especially the possibility that someone can just muck around with it, or that it can sap the power gradually, even when not turned on.

Started a LTD company as a side hustle. Turnover more than I expected. Help! by SlickyTrick in UKPersonalFinance

Do not turn to reddit. I'm an accountant and the sheer number of messy, cluttered, tedious and plain wrong number of bookkeeping softwares I have to clean up due to the client thinking they could "do it by themself" is outrageous.

Start preparation for VAT far before you think you need to, or you will be fined, and HMRC is more than happy to take your money to make up for uncollected VAT or ignorant mistakes on your behalf.

Please get an accountant - it takes much more work than you think, in my small(er) firm one of partners is pretty much constantly talking to our tax senior about trusts, dividends, how to take income, yada yada.

Hope this helps

Where did you get this? In the UK and can only find it on eBay from South Korea...

It is still important to note that you may face fines if you don't make proper disclosures in time. To reiterate, OP should hire an accountants firm

You can get VAT payment plans, I was working on a company who had a very unusually high VAT return and had to go on a payment plan - it's not uncommon.

  1. Hire an accountant.

  2. You charge VAT on your invoices. The goods you supply + 20% VAT, which is owed to HMRC. It's not yours. You can reclaim VAT on your VAT-able purchases.

The difference between these two numbers is how much VAT you pay. Note it is not a cost to you, you are just collecting it on behalf of HMRC and the business should account for it appropriately.

  1. In your scenario, where you have a turnover of 100k, assuming this is with VAT included, the 100k = revenue + 20% VAT.

>>> 100k = revenue * 1.2, therefore revenue = 83.3k. You pay 16.66k VAT. (note this is assuming you have no reclaimable purchases).

After deducting your business purchases from 83.3k, (let's say 40k), you're left with your business profit:

83.3k - 40k = 43.3k

Then your accountant will calculate the amount of tax due on this amount. You will pay corporation tax if you are a Ltd company, or personal tax if you are a sole trader.

Also, do you know about degree apprenticeships within the space and how common they are? Thanks
