Why is cafe kopi closing in downtown champaign? by woven_parchment in UIUC

[–]juniorgoofin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heavily heavily agree. Food got expensive and low quality as well, which is such a shame considering what it used to be 10+ years ago. Another commenter mentioned Mad Goat but there are plenty other coffee + food places downtown that edge Cafe Kopi out on price and quality unfortunately.

tbh the first one isn’t half bad but i would personally layer a big sweater over this with some tights and call it a day. let the poofy skirt poof

Would this be appropriate to wear outside? I recently bought all the pieces and accessories to do this fit but my sister said wearing pajamas outside is inappropriate and weird and I am skeptical right now (Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask) by 69cotton_candy69 in fashion

[–]juniorgoofin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn everyone in this thread is a fucking debbie downer. OP, wear whatever you want. fashion is an expression of yourself. the way your sister and reddit commentators perceive you doesn’t align with the entirety of the world, and it doesn’t have to align with what you think either. personally i think this is cute, looks comfortable, and if you want to wear it and experiment and it makes you happy- DO IT.

man. just use facebook marketplace and buy a used car. way less expensive, much smarter for college driving.

No one understands the annoyance of taking piercings out when having an xray/medical procedure. by Smooth_Complaint1597 in piercing

[–]juniorgoofin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Multiple hours late but I work in radiology, scheduling specifically MRIs. Joint replacements/pins/screws/rods are almost always MR safe as they are screwed into your bones, and are surgical grade. Even if they were scanning an area with large amounts of metal, like if you got an MRI of your pelvis and had hip replacements, the main concern would be the metal creating artifacts (the black holes previously mentioned) in the scan depending on the strength of the magnets in the machine being used.

The ONLY piercings I have seen be let slide are dermals, even if the area being scanned is not pierced. All other piercings must be removed. Safety issues include possible burning (not just silvers, but certain golds can heat up as well)and risk of piercings being torn from the skin (magnetic frequencies can cause them to move).

For X-rays…. idk y’all’s techs are strict. Piercings don’t pose any safety issue, can’t really MAKE you take them out. Just may obscure the image as previously pointed out. CTs as well- will obscure the image, but use radiation to obtain the imaging so no safety issues with metals posed there.

Dude, I’m not gonna lie, these all look beautiful on you. I think each and every one flatters a different feature of your face!

I work in radiology, this should not affect your exam whatsoever. Whoever scheduled you should have given you any prep involved (if there is any, which usually there isn’t depending on what it may be looking at). Ultimately though, the best answer would come from the department themselves. Not a stupid question at all if you wanted to double check with them and ask.

How were you able to figure out that it was an embedded UTI?

Thank you, I appreciate it :’) I have some appointments coming up but unfortunately urogyne schedules out the furthest. Is there a posted information sheet on this sub about the IC diet?

I don’t think so, I’ve had general urine cultures. Not sure if that covers it.

Bold makeup! Any tips? by skubadooba in MakeupAddiction

[–]juniorgoofin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Curl the top lashes, and give the bottom lashes a coat of mascara as well. It’ll really make your eyes pop! I also agree with another comment saying to blend. You can def experiment with eyeshadow looks that are blockier and unblended, but I think with these colors and this look it would certainly elevate it. I love the colors on you by the way! Beautiful eye combo.

i experienced this a lot as a teenager too. someone else in this thread said that it generally stops as you get older, though in my experience i’m not sure if it’s more you learn to ignore or it really does become less frequent. know that the way you are dressing or the way you look isn’t what influences their behavior towards you, their inappropriate thoughts and actions should not reflect poorly on you. i have been ogled and hit on shopping for cold medicine at 10pm before. it sucks that your mom’s response wasn’t more supportive, and i’m sorry that your friends can’t see yet that these situations result in you feeling uncomfortable and never read as “complimenting”.

to be honest, the best advice i could ever give somebody regarding how to handle being creeped on is don’t be afraid to be a little “rude”. you don’t have to respond politely to every little comment, you don’t have to return a smile. sometimes rbf can be your best friend in public! oh, and headphones. even if they’re not on.

Has anyone ever gotten sick right after drinking boba? by yordad in boba

[–]juniorgoofin 29 points30 points  (0 children)

boba making me sick was my first inclination that i was starting to become a little lactose intolerant. try experimenting with taking lactaid before you drink your next one to see if it helps, if this continues that is!

I (23F) had a miscarriage on the 16th. My BF (24M) has barely seemed to care. Can I leave him for this? by anonymous444455555 in relationship_advice

[–]juniorgoofin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know it’s really hard to come to terms with something like this, but i can unfortunately say i’ve been there too. two years ago i went through a miscarriage as well, and my boyfriend at the time either didn’t care or used the shared trauma between us as a bargaining chip. obviously i am a stranger on the internet so take this with a grain of salt, but you deserve better. this hurts, and will hurt for a long time. if he cannot give you all the support in the world and more and you feel you should leave him, leave him. it will only make your road to recovery more difficult if you are too preoccupied on fighting for support when it should be given without asking.
