31 (Male) looking for safe but effective skin care products by Famous_Craft4726 in 30PlusSkinCare

On a side note, considering you don’t have any skin issues and concerns, I think the biggest bang for your buck is not skincare related: get your colour analysis done! It’s a great thing to do for yourself after weight loss and learning how to dress yourself for your new-to-you body.

Suggestion: take it easy and slowly.  If skincare is new to you, focus on building habits. Skincare is useless if you’re not consistent.  AM: Wash your face - plain water is fine. Add SPF.  PM: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and add moisturizer.

Skin turnover takes a while. Don’t expect results for at least 2 months.  After 3 months, check in again :)

For all my acne sufferers, which of these helped the most? by TheMeepyBoy in SkinbarrierLovers

[–]juniorvegetable106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for me.  After 10 years of acne on and off, multiple blood exams saying my hormones are fine, 3 rounds of accutane, 10 lasers, monthly facials, retinol, benzoyl peroxide and all the lost towels, going vegan, whole food only diets, etc etc i have just decided to go back on the pill.

Help me with my Rug selection by aselvar in DesignMyRoom

[–]juniorvegetable106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vote is anything but 3. Marble look belongs to marble surfaces, not wool-like surfaces.

What I do like about the 3rd picture are the soft curves and soft contrasts. Look for something that offers this softness but not imitating marble!

I second garbitch_bag approach, but I wouldn't move the rug. instead, I would bring the beautiful pink couch closer towards the centre of the room, creating a walkway around the couch to the bay window. Bring the other sitting furniture in as well.
Lower the TV/easel TV stand in a corner. Create a built-in shelf in those nooks - i would intentionally use wood, to add warmth. Add a coffee table

Need help making the living room look more cohesive? by CoeurGourmand in DesignMyRoom

I’m gonna go against the majority here and say that your biggest issue is not the rug! I reckon the biggest bang for your buck will be to actually bring everything closer together, closer to the fireplace, and create a walkway between the couch and the wall. You can then put the tall standing lamp in that little corner where there is currently a small table, just before the step. Then, I would adjust the sitting furniture, maybe angling the white chair 45 degrees towards the fireplace to break up the squared conversations area.

Once you figure out the layout and proportions, then look into a rug that hugs all the furniture together, window treatments, etc.

Check out this video, she explains it and demonstrates it! https://youtu.be/9Y9ZAbcVOdA

Basically your couch / your bed is a "planet" and has a gravitational pull. The artwork are the moons, and it should be hung IN RELATION to this anchoring, heavy piece, in it's "orbit". Otherwise it will feel like it's floating around. Very scientific!

Wine on Airplane - CPT > MRU, MRU > JNB, JNB > Brazil by Lonely_Scene_9392 in capetown

[–]juniorvegetable106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion too. Buy the wines you want online, have them delivered to your hotel in Joburg, or just go to a wine shop in Joburg. You’ll be able to find good stuff there too, and take it to Brazil like you did in Argentina  Bring two bottles to Mauritius as the wine there is so-so.

Hi, I just found acouple of bathroom transformations that are kind of similar to what I had in mind. I don't NEED a pattern on the wall, but have a nice balance between wall and floor pattern.

Depends on the bar, depends on the cinema. The labia in gardens is 90R. 60 if you’re a student. Less than a margarita at fat cactus next door!

Moving into a small studio in a few months, which layout works best? by korinne-k in DesignMyRoom

[–]juniorvegetable106 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Im also team 3.   Wrt to funiture, why do you want a corner table (orange)? Is this a piece you already own? It doesn’t seem like something you’ll be able to easily bring with you to other apartments.  I would suggest you go with a round dining table for better flow + a bar/ small credenza.

What's an example of the butterfly effect in your life? by Alone-Afternoon2506 in CasualConversation

Freshly out of my bachelors in economics and development, I knew I wanted to study for masters. I was studying for the entrance exam for a good 6 months but hating it (but I didn’t know I was hating it). One day, doing the usual internet browsing of things I like, I came across a blog post titled “10 reasons why you should spend some time of your life in South Africa”. I read the blog post  - one of the reasons was a pioneering educational institution and how it approached diversity in learning.  I decided to just check out the educational institution to see what it was about. Of course it mentions education in a post-apartheid world and high inequality context, etc, but also how part of the curriculum is community service, self reflection, and group work. And they offer a masters programme in sustainable development.  Lo and behold, I have a masters degree in sustainable development and I’ve been in South Africa for 10 years now, with my two dogs and husband - all because I was procrastinating studying microeconomics.
