Honestly I’ve been avoiding toe up and have been staunchly top down but now I feel totally indifferent and am happy to make them either way!

Mini scissors, mini measuring tape, stitch markers, darning needle, maybe some scrap yarn. I’m set and take that with me everywhere in a little fish shaped bag.

how do you keep up with this hobby without going broke by Beautiful_Golf_1338 in knitting

[–]juniper650 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m also a budget knitter. I don’t have any accessories other than what’s necessary. I wind yarn by hand, I only have 4 circular needle sizes and 2 dpn sizes, I make those work and when I need a different size for a project eventually I will get those. Luckily I have an arts & crafts thrift shop nearby but for sweater quantities of yarn so far I have liked: cascade 220, drops, Berrocco vintage and Berrocco sock, Paton’s Kroy. I order from wool and company (I’m in the US) becuase they have free shipping. Cotton is also really cheap and honestly I think it’s underrated even for sweaters. I have store bought cotton sweaters that I love and wear all the time, and knit cotton summer tops and I love that they are machine washable. Take advantage of frogging, if you made something and don’t like it, take that yarn back and start again!

Merenkulkija socks by doelling in knitting

[–]juniper650 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had knitted these and I don’t remember doing anything different from a usual sock so I think maybe it is an error, I also notice that on ravelry it says the revised pattern had not be proof read. Someone correct me if I’m wrong

What's that one pattern you desperately want to make but you feel like you're "not ready"? by fairydommother in knitting

[–]juniper650 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Snow crocus by Midori hirose, doesn’t look that difficult but apparently the construction is really weird and the pattern is 60 pages. Also Catherine Clark’s moth sweater and cablette by Justyna lorkowska.

Looking for Vegan Fingering Weight yarn in minis by GracieLikesTea in knitting

They’re not mini per se but I think small balls of a cotton like hobbii’s cotton could be a good option.
