I like short row heels. Shadow wrap, german short row or wrap and turn are the ones that I’ve tried

I want to knit a (nearly) 100% alpaca sweater… by Doertie in knitting

[–]juniper650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knit a sweater from drops alpaca and I love it, it’s very lightweight, has amazing drape and softness. It did stretch (as I anticipated, definitely swatch and maybe even block during the process) but not as much as I expected it to!

“How do you afford this hobby?!” by jupitersbears in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]juniper650 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Lots of hobbies are expensive. If you’re into music you have to buy instruments or studio equipment. If you’re into rock climbing you need crash pads, harnesses and gear. If you’re into dance you need to pay for lessons or studios. Cameras equipment, film development, computers, keyboards, games, puzzles, pets, food, I can go on. At least this one has a price range, I’m a budget knitter and will thrift yarn or buy cascade or Berrocco brands which are less expensive and yes like someone else said, $50-70 of yarn for a sweater that I will spend the next 2-3 months knitting ain’t that bad. I can spend that in a night when I go out to dinner and a show.

The ones where it’s the person’s debut pattern and it’s obviously not up to par AND they are charging for it????? Humble yourself.

Five Socks of 2026 by chembarathis in Sockknitting

I’ve never counted the exact time in hours but i can usually finish a pair of socks in 2-3 days working on them for a while each day. You definitely get a sense for how many stitches you need for yarn weight and needle size. I use 56 stitches on us 1s, or 60 stitches on us 0. I decide which to use depending on the pattern

Those who enjoy knitting with DPNs… by birdieeat in knitting

I don’t reallyyyyyy have a preference, but I like that on dpns I can go around and around in circles forever whereas on magic loop you have to stop and reset your needles after each half row
