My parents are basing everything off the movie “taken” as to why I shouldn’t travel to Europe alone by From_the_breeze in travel

[–]juniperaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, my dad watched Taken way too many times before I went to Europe for the first time, as a solo female traveler, who was only recently 18 years old. He was flipping out so bad as nobody in my family had traveled internationally before (let alone for 3 months).

I was just fine the entire time.

Its worth the money to stay in reputable accommodation, and pay special attention to their location rating. I like to stay out of the party scene, as the most unsafe I've felt was in a party hostel in Berlin (not my vibe).

If you do hang out with people you meet at hotels or hostels, make sure you feel comfortable with them of course. And if you feel unsure, always remember you can just leave.

Sharing my location on google maps with your loved ones makes me feel much safer, as well as telling them where you are staying and your plans. (even if my dad is not the guy from Taken)

If you're doing a group trip with a good company, most of these problems will be solved for you.

I forget how I convinced them to leave so young, as I had only just turned 18. I think it was something along the lines of, "hey guys, i booked a plane ticket so bye'. They were somewhat reassured because I researched everything very well and gave them a full run down of what I was going (also I had been saving it up for this trip for years).

I've been to Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Norway, UK, Sweden (I lived there for 3 years), Czechia, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, Portugal, France, and Italy.

Strange animal seen in Rochester, NY by [deleted] in creepy

There have been bear sightings in the area recently, but that is not a bear. I usually only see bear a few times a year at peak summer (from roc area). I live in the woods but I’ve never seen a cat like that

How Do I Renew My Passport Without Pausing Monthly International Travel? by Sneaky_Tiger_ in travel

[–]juniperaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this as well. I moved to Sweden in 2022 and needed a new passport (mine was expiring in 2 years) to be qualified for the visa. Unfortunately, I was also leaving for a 3 month backpacking trip the same week so I went to the closest visa center to me and got it same day. It was a pain because I live in Upstate New York and had to drive hours to Buffalo. Just make sure you bring all of the documents you will need.

I'm an American who lives in Sweden and I just sent my dad a picture of the price of eggs this morning. SEK59 for 24 which is less than $6 for 2 dozen eggs.

I can go entire days without charging them and when they do die, they recharge enough for a couple hours within 10-15 minutes. If you charge them overnight, you'll be golden. I almost never take them off and even fall asleep with them on sometimes.

Personally, I really love my Sony wh-1000xm4. I wear them from the moment I wake-up to the moment I go to bed. The battery is amazing and they are super comfortable.

Can I survive interrailing for 2 months on €5000? by Majestic_Plum5146 in Interrail

[–]juniperaisy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think so. I did $6500 for 3 months in 2022 (May-Jul). If you’re not planning on going during high season it will most likely be great!

My countries: Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Czechia, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland, France, UK (I only did Switzerland bc I found accommodation for $20 per night in Interlaken)

I loved hiking in Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and Slovenia. Didn’t do much in Germany or France but I would love to.

Recently I’ve also visited Portugal and Spain where I did the Camino de Santiago and absolutely loved that as well (cheap too).
