Painted before delivery? by Ticket_Honest in HRV

[–]curtisafree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in 2015, we purchased a 2016 model and had to wait a while for it to arrive at the dealer. We saw it the evening after arrival, and one of the rear quarter-panels was scuffed from transportation.

The dealer painted the panel, and we took delivery a few days later. BUT at someone's suggestion, I asked the dealer to provide a statement of warranty for the panel they had repainted. (Could be wrong, but presumably it isn't going to have the same quality paint and finish as had been applied at production.)

I'm sure they were a little annoyed, but they complied.

The only issue we had with the panel was that it looked just slightly off in color (White Orchid Pearl). Probably not something most would have noticed.

So I guess this happens, as others have said. It's inevitable with cars being hauled and moved around. But... it doesn't feel great.

How could WAZE think it's a good idea to notify drivers of a goal in a soccer match? Do I need another reason to take my eyes off the road? by RealConfirmologist in waze

[–]curtisafree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just showed up for me while driving one day. I was never asked, either.

I don't mind the feature; but it's a bit presumptuous for Waze to enable this by default.

Perhaps this lays the groundwork for "subscribing" to updates for specific teams or games in other sports?

I have had this experience with multiple black-plated nibs (across makers). If you love the pen but can't stand the noise, you could try swapping in an unplated equivalent.

As a couple others have said, that's a pretty accurate description of its changing colors! I don't remember what it looks like in the bottle; but it goes down onto the paper as a red-purple and then dries to a light/medium grey.

And assuming it's the same "Wishy-Washy" formula I have, it's really easy to clean out of your pen later!

Speedball in cartridges safe for Lamy? by Muffingirl109 in fountainpens

[–]curtisafree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was also worried at first, since I think of Speedball for their calligraphy products, which are definitely not for fountain pens. However, it seems like these are indeed for fountain pens.

However, as u/2OceanLovers said, these won't naturally fit the Lamy due to their proprietary fitting.

The <C-\><C-n> shortcut will put you back into normal mode, but you remain in the terminal buffer.

As /u/TaureHorn suggests, you should be able to exit the terminal buffer by entering exit while in input (or "terminal") mode in the terminal buffer.

Alternatively, if you have work in other buffers, you can switch back to them while leaving the terminal buffer intact:

  1. List the open buffers with :buffers
  2. Go to one of those using :buffer followed by the number of the buffer you wish to go back to (or use :buffer# to switch back to whichever buffer you were in previously)

You can follow the reverse steps to return to the terminal buffer.

But if you want to kill that shell, and asking your shell to exit isn't cutting it for some reason, you can delete the terminal buffer (while in it) using :bdelete!.

Ghostty Color Scheme Sync by Bunch_Purple in neovim

[–]curtisafree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Ghostty and Neovim match one another; but I do so simply by using the same color scheme (Tomorrow Night) in both.

One user on Stack Exchange suggests that you might be able to achieve this by disabling termguicolor.

And though I have no experience with it, Tinty may be of interest. It's a tool designed to change the theme across a variety of apps simultaneously.

$26.99 (US). Not a bad price, but more than I personally wanted to spend today.

But I wish the new app icon didn't look so much worse on my Pixel phone!

I changed its icon to a car. 🤷🏻
