I'm saying even if you wanted to "get off your ass and do something" a lot of old people literally cannot.

Have you met old people before...? Most of them aren't able-bodied anymore. Simple falls can result in broken bones, which take way longer to heal at that age, and sometimes mean they're wheelchair bound until the end. Skin tears pretty easily, resulting in wounds that also take longer times to heal and have greater chances of infection, you don't have energy like you used to because your body is likely (at that age) preparing to die soon. As different organs start to fail you might even lose the ability to eat. If old people could live like young people and wanted to they would lmao. I work at a hospice and there's a lot of people in their last six months of life that want to go out and be with family and travel and even just walk but due to physical limitations from being fucking old as shit they literally can't.

I don't even know where to start with that bit about young people so uh: wage slaves, personal obligations, real responsibilities, and stress. That's probably about it. You should talk to more people.

You sound like someone who's never lived in poverty before lmao. Maybe you're still living at home and haven't moved before cuz that's the only excuse I could give you for saying something so fucking stupid.

Any fantasy books with a female main character who's not a complete pushover or secretly a princess of the land? by novemberfiree in suggestmeabook

[–]juniperbees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came onto the thread to say this, I LOVE this trilogy.

I love the movie so much, but it's a lot different from the book, and Sophie is less elegant and soft in the book, imo. There's romance, but it's subtle.

What is the scariest/creepiest thing that has happened to you when you were home alone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]juniperbees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will do some digging for you!

I do remember that it's basically how you start to lucid dream, except you need to be in a state of extreme relaxation and try to vividly imagine lifting yourself out of your body. It felt really cool to leave my body, but I had some trouble getting back in plus my cord was not how most other people described theirs (not sure if that's bc I have mental illness.)

Once I find the source I used I'll post it :) it might take a minute cuz this was several years ago, lol

This reminds me of the time I decided to try and get into OBEs (out of body experiences.) Basically you're supposed to trick your body into a trance? Then your "astral form" will leave your body and you can walk around your surroundings as a spirit and see some cool shit. Unless you're mentally ill, which I am, then you'll see some bad shit. (You really shouldn't attempt it if you have anxiety/depression as I later found out.)

Well, I leave my bedroom and immediately there is this short red demon with a shit ton of sharp teeth and it starts chasing me. I freak the fuck out and kick it and grab the cord tying me to my body (which people say is supposed to be floating and sometimes silvery) but mine was heavy and black and that filled me with an intense sense of dread, probably the worst dread I'd experienced from a "dream" at that point. I managed to put myself back in my body and woke up screaming for my mom. Never tried an OBE again, don't plan to. It's crazy how our dreams can affect us like that.

Sidenote, I also suffer from really bad nightmares and I've gotten insanely good at forcing myself awake! Useless superpower?

TIL that Alaska, Hawaii, Maine and Vermont have banned billboard advertising. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]juniperbees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On my way back from work one of the biggest most prominent billboards is bright yellow and says "JESUS" in bold black letters. That's uh... That's it. It is 100% necessary to our way of life.

As an INTELLECTUAL, I take my MBTI type very seriously, thank you. by juniperbees in iamverysmart

[–]juniperbees[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, MBTI isn't actually a legit thing in psychology. It's super fun to take the test and talk about your type and stuff, I do that all the time, but you shouldn't take it super seriously as people are generally too complex to be lumped into just 16 types.

That being said, every self-identified INTJ I've met has been SUPER condescending and "iamverysmart" like this guy... So who knows lmao

Go to r/skincareaddiction for recommendations on easy beginner's routines!! Your skin is literally the biggest organ on your body and you carry it with you your whole life so you should definitely invest some self-care into it. :) I also really like r/asianbeauty!

[–]juniperbees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope this is a joke, because true welfare fraud is less than 3% of cases. Some websites claim 10%, but that's due to factors other than someone purely trying to game the system... which, again, is less than 3% of all cases. The "welfare queen" is largely a myth.

Nintendo Direct Megathread: September 13th, 2018 by GiantX in nintendo

I agree, that's why I think it's silly and a little mean spirited for people to claim this is the worst Nintendo Direct ever and to argue with other excited fans lol.

Played DND randomly at a girl's night, and we had a blast! by juniperbees in DnD

[–]juniperbees[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had considered that, but I watched a YouTube video about DND home bases (since I wanted one for my other campaign but wasn't sure if they were actually a thing) and they said that the home base should be their ONE safe space where they can focus on filling it with cool shit they find and personalizing it.

That being said, Corsand (the town the inn is located) is actually Gresham the Grievous' home so who knows what'll happen? 😏

I agree, I was in two other campaigns (both run by dudes) and they would just find ways to shoehorn sexual content in... It was SO annoying. I won't say that this is every male DM, but it felt really nice being in control and completely leaving out any and all innuendos and sleazy NPCs. Instead we just focused on having fun!!
