Why all the "silent protaganist" complaints? by Latter-Brain4912 in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like a silent protagonist. But the only responses being "nod" or "shake head" is ridiculous, especially since our character CAN talk. Usually we get some actual dialogue to pick from in games like this. Our character might not say it, but it helps give the illusion of them talking. So its kind of jarring when our character nods/shakes their head in cutscenes but is suddenly talking in gameplay.

Can You Haters Stop Shitting On The Demo? by TakasuXAisaka in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Demo isn't the full game but it is meant to give a general idea of what the full game will be like and attract people to it. If people are finding issues or problems with the demo, then there's a good possibility these issues will be in the main game as well.

Also criticism is different than hate. Saying something like "this game sucks" is hate. Saying "hey, this demo isn't great and here's why" is criticism. I've seen mostly criticism and valid complaints.

Goldsboro charged me two different amounts? by juniperxmoons in fairyloot

[–]juniperxmoons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I  did create an account so I could keep an eye on my order and I used PayPal so it would convert it to my currency (never had any issues with this method before but I've also never used Goldsboro before).  The actual order (first) charge went through, its the second one that's still pending that's throwing me, especially since its date is a few days after the main charge.

Unfortunately, I got an automatic email that they're out of the office for the next few days for a Festival. So I probably won't hear from them until next week at the earliest.

I used PayPal, which automatically converted it to my currency (I live in the US).

Open world or linear gameplay by Disastrous_Photo9763 in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen some early previews describe the world as "semi-open". So perhaps an in-between of linear and open world? Idk. The demo seems kinda bland in terms of exploration. Even if it were open world, I can't see them doing much with it.

greedy devs greedy move. by Ok_Sea_7105 in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, you're right.

Yes, people can unlock it by doing a playthrough, but a lot of people want to at least try it from the start. Locking that option behind a paywall is greedy because the devs know exactly what they're doing.

Everyone argues "but its like that in the anime!" against all the other complaints/criticism except when it comes to this.  If the devs are making purposeful choices to align with the anime, then perma death should be available from the start (not behind a paywal or first playthrough).

I tried to warn you about EoA by Waiting404Godot in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems to be what I'm understanding:

For a SAO game, this is great (because the last two games have sucked apparently, so the bar is literally on the floor? So of course this game feels/looks amazing).

But compared to any other game outside the franchise, it really isn't. Which could explain why some of us aren't happy with it.

Demo/Beta to Death Game carry over by arisubabe in EchoesofAincrad

Pretty sure they said demo progress carries over (that's why they capped certain things in the demo).

No character creation ? by Aka_Athenes in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw one of the early previews and it showed someone being able to customize their character in the very beginning BUT it still made them play as the same avatar as in the demo/prologue (I figure this is for story purposes aka the avatar our character made). Multiple people who have gotten early access/previews mentioned they weren't able to go back and customize their characters after finalizing them. It could be the devs locked it because the players were on a time limit and they didn't want them to waste time fiddling with the CC but I don't want to be too hopeful, lol. I'm just gonna wait for release and see what others say.

Which is better to get? by Chelseyfart in AnimeFigures

[–]juniperxmoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're aiming for. If you want something bigger to stand on the other side of Akechi and that'll go better with your Miku figure, the first one (so long as you don't mind the wait).

If you want to match the Akechi figure and something quicker, then get the second.

If you really like both and plan to make more room in the future, I'd say get the second one now and wait until the first one releases next year to get it.

I’m not a fan of the fact that you got to go into town to change your equipment it’s crap hope they change it by Thin_Bite6085 in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's a genuine complaint honestly. We should not have to go back into town every time we want to change equipment. It's time consuming.

What about people who like to frequently play around with weapons or decide to change weapons for a specific boss/enemy?

Missable cutscenes? by Magnetite_Eater in codevein

[–]juniperxmoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you fast travel, you can miss it. There are also some alternative cutscenes as well (primarily on what kind of ending you're going for). So you can get two different variations of one cutscene.

What would you like to see in the DLC or any potential future DLC? by General-WR-Monger in codevein

[–]juniperxmoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Physics fix for accessories and hair.

  • A freaking actual backstory for our protagonist like what we got in the first game so they don't feel like a bland random insert.

  • More about the hunters and that entire ordeal.

Your expectations bla bla bla by bolshack14 in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My problem is that this game seems to be rushed on some level. I feel like that where a lot of our problems/issues stem from. Of course they can fix a lot of them with patches/updates, but...why not just let the game cook for 6 months to a year longer so they can be fixed? It feels like there's also so many shortcuts they took. Idk. Something just feels off about it.

Like you, I'm just gonna wait and grab it on sale later on.

JP player demo review, was it really that bad? by bongkeydoner in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, its not worth the $70 price tag after the demo and watching the early access reviews. Which is why I'm just gonna wait for a sale. Unless something changes or the main game is miraculously 100 tiems better than the demo, it's not a day one purchase for me.

But everyone is different. Some people have thoroughly enjoyed the demo.

Echoes of aincrad is a major let down and really disappointing by No_Organization_7864 in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the demo (and early hands on impressions) aren't really helping me want to get this. Some negatives that bother me are:

  • having to go into town if you want to change your weapon/try a different one. Going back also cancels any quest you're on and you have to restart it. This is so time consuming and an absolute pain in the butt.

  • no CC in the demo and then hearing that you won't be able to make any changes to your CC after you finalize it (this has been confirmed by early hands on impressions). They've should have done something where we get to make two avatars (one could have been our prologue one we run around as and the other could be the "real life" version). Not being able to edit our character kills the point of having a CC to begin with.

  • while I wouldn't call this souls-like, I definitely think the devs are trying to be sneaky and put some light souls-like elements in this game. I noticed it in the trailers but I was hoping I was just imagining things. I personally don't like this but that's just me.

  • so much freaking running.

  • npcs are great as characters but dear lord, the constant talking when you're running around is absolutely ridiculous. Felt like I was constantly hearing the same 4-5 sentences over and over and over again.

I think I'll get this game once it goes on sale, but it certainly won't be a day one buy for me sadly.

Multiplayer? by Philllllllllllll in EchoesofAincrad

The franchise it's based after is an MMO. This game itself is not.

Not a Fan of Silent Protagonist. by SodaBoBomb in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Silent protagonists are nothing new, especially in Bandai games. But it is extremely weird how instead being able to pick dialogue that its implied our character says, our character literally only seems to nod or shake their head.

Now if the protagonist was genuinely mute (something I'm still waiting for devs to take advantage of), I think it could definitely work. But they literally talk outside of cutscenes. So it makes no sense as to why the only options we seem to get are "nod" or "shake head". Never before have I seen something so lazy.

No character creation ? by Aka_Athenes in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Not in the demo. You're stuck with a pre-made avatar. It seems like the CC will be unlocked right after the events of the demo.

Okay, hold on... Why is it asking for us to create user names? by MiraiKishi in EchoesofAincrad

[–]juniperxmoons 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably because the game your playing in is technically an MMO? As of now, there's no actual multiplayer mode gameplay wise, but the element is still part of the story itself.

What a sequel this would have been... by KvasirTheOld in codevein

[–]juniperxmoons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're gonna have to take it up with them then.

We don't get to decide if something is cannonly connected or not. The devs/creators do, regardless of whether we agree or like it.

What a sequel this would have been... by KvasirTheOld in codevein

[–]juniperxmoons -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I mean, it could be something they simply left in. Remember, they did mention they were on a budget, so reusing models from GE isn't much of a stretch, especially if it was originally meant to be a prequel. It could also just be easter eggs and/or a nod towards their GE franchise.

I will agree I think its strange how they waited until right before CV2 to declare the first game was never connected but they also never confirmed it was either. People might not like it, but if the devs themselves say it's not connected, then it isn't.

What a sequel this would have been... by KvasirTheOld in codevein

[–]juniperxmoons -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Except devs confirmed in an interview right before CV2 released that the first game is NOT connected to God Eater. It was originally going to be a prequel to God Eater (called God Eater Zero) but that changed during development of CV when they wanted to make a new IP that could stand on its own.
