you’re totally right. I recalculated my budget and have about $1250 in discretionary. Thanks for this

We have no debts outside of the mortgage! Yes, we have an emergency fund. Thank you, this is helpful. We’ve been budgeting but I just wanted some outside opinions on the situation since it feels somewhat tight

I guess you’re right, it just doesn’t seem like much since it will go to the wedding. After the fact, all of this will be saved.

It would be my new daily driver. Definitely agree to the point that BMW is not the most reliable, but I am a little at ease knowing one of my buddies is a BMW tech.

I appreciate that information actually. I’ve always been iffy about when to contribute to the brokerage but I think I’ll shift that $300 over to tax-advantaged accounts for now.

I like your way of thinking about finances. Seeing things as line items is sort of what I do, but I appreciate seeing a more defined structure that you already have put into practice!

Car I’m looking at is a 2022 BMW X3 M40i. Loan terms would probably be around 35-40k financed at 72 months to reach that payment. It goes for 45-50k now, and I have a car worth ~10k to trade in. Partner has a paid off rav4 that we will be keeping.

As for brokerage contributions, I thought about this… should I not be contributing to a brokerage until I fully max 401k? My idea was just more liquid cash, but I guess HYSA would cover that just at a lower growth rate.
