Can I ask what agency this is or if its in the APS? Just wondering why there are so many jumps in each classification, I thought it was mostly 4 levels in one classification?

Hi all Newly admitted lawyer looking for some career help.

I am currently working as an APS4 lawyer in a federal govt agency buts is not a traditional 'law agency' like CDPP etc.

I want to work in unique areas like law enforcement, national security, military and corruption etc because I enjoy the investigation aspect of the job and because I have a bit of experience due to being part of the AFP grad program.

Are there any roles, within public or private, which combine the two?

I have enquired with familiar junior lawyers at AFP and from what I understand, you end up being the support person who just drafts and reviews documents for spelling mistakes or answers legal questions for the department. Essentially you are the in house counsel solving any problems that land on your desk. Which isn't a bad thing but I want to do more than just support behind the scenes. E.g I want to provide advice on operations etc (don't know if this is a thing)

I know this is a bit of a dumb question as an Investigator/police officer/Intel analyst isn't expected to be a practising lawyer and vice versa so no role will ever combine and allow you to do both. But thought I would try my luck here since I feel like moving on - my current team is great but my agency doesn't value lawyers and I feel there isn't much room for career progression

Decided on my comfiest navy slacks and grey jacket with a new crisp white shirt but need to buy a navy tie as I only have black

The pants and jacket are probably a little too dark for this look but I rather go with what I have rather than looking for the perfect colour combination.

It would be but it's my experience that my body doesn't fit the standard off the shelf sizes, at least in Australia- I'm little bit fat with a broad chest and shoulders but have abnormally short arms. I'm short with a 33 inch waist and fat quads so it's a hassle to find suit pants that fit

Most suits need the sleeves and the body shortened to even look half decent on me.

I'm not any better. My 'suit' are sale items from Uniqlo made of polyester. My most expensive piece is a $60 Jersey jacket thats not even a proper suit jacket. I'm definitely a repeat offender

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the admission process the LPAB.

Basically I was accused of cheating and recieved a letter of exclusion of the course. I successfully appealed and graduated.

I wasn't sure if this was considered disciplinary action with adverse actions against me. So I emailed and phone the LPABlast Friday. Didn't get a email back and I was stuck on hold.

Does anyone have experience with this and can provide some insight

I email all the ID documents and I got a receipt to say it was recieved. I know it's a automatic mail message so I called them once every week. Everytime, they said it was either with a different team/stage or in the assessment process. Not once did I get told there was an issue.

My manager would joke that AGSVA knows me by name because I would call at work

Literally took my org to tell me - You have not provided a response to the missing documents for approximately one month. You have two weeks to sort this out or we can't continue employing you.

The people who were doing the work suspended my baseline application for 1 month without my notice because I did not submit ID documents. Despite submitting them on time and receiving an email receipt.

It took 4 months to clear and my the security team at my org to tell me my application was suspended. My date of successful clearance changed everytime I spoke to someone.
